The Inn at Little Washington came out to a little more than $800 for two including wine pairings and drinks. That's the most I've dropped on dinner, was our first anniversary. It was great and definitely the most expensive, but it's not the best meal I've had in that fine dining/tasting menu category. The execution was perfect, but I didn't care for a couple of the pairings and I think they were working out of their own league with some of the plates. For instance, it's the mid-atlantic, don't serve me a lobster course, give me blue crab instead! Those sorts of things. I think restaurants work better when they deal with the things that grow, forage or swim nearby.

Yeah I hate when that happens. Use what is around you; why fly something in when you can use something just as awesome, or better right outside your front door.

Yup, because if you're flying your ingredients in, it means you're probably leaving behind something local that I might not be able to get when I return home.

Using the mid-atlantic as an example again, because I lived there, it's a damn shame to not serve blue crab in the summer or shad roe in the spring. Chances are, you aren't finding those wherever else you live. Especially at a place like IALW which draws people in from all over.

It was only about $500 for two when I went, must have been a weekend? During the week I think it's closer to $150pp instead of $200pp

Though I suppose you may have gotten more alcohol than we did, only 1 mixed drink and 1 bottle of wine which was like $75-100.

im in new york..has to be per se..290 per person..french cuisine..you can order some bottles of wine for 10 grand

If you're talking the most expensive, it's hard to top the $4,000,000 strawberry dessert from Arnaud's.

We did the larger of the tasting menus, was 8 or 12 courses, with pairings for each course. It's a pretty solid way to spend as much as you can there. We were there on a Saturday night in December.

Even I was surprised when I got the bill, and I was expecting some sticker shock. Glad I did it, probably won't go back any time soon.

the most expensive i've personally been to was mesa grill at the atlantis in the bahamas. it's a bobby flay restaurant. it was like $210 for my wife and i, tip included. we had 2 apps i think, each had an entree, and shared a desert. she had 2 or 3 glasses of wine and i had 2 cocktails.

one of the best meals i've ever had. atlantis in general had some outstanding restaurants. we ate at 3 that were over $150 a meal, with that one being the most expensive.

i plan to go to 3 or so expensive dinners next month while in vegas.

Totally. For example this razor clam dish from El Bulli; they actually pointed to the area just down at the ocean from where we were sitting where they had pulled the clams and the seaweed from earlier that day. Awesome stuff!

Most expensive meal I ever had was at Palais Coburg in Vienna; cost us over 600 Euros each. Was an amazing experience though!

I'm going to paris in a couple weeks, so thought I might try making a reservation at one of the restaurants. Holy crap, Alain Ducasse's place is not cheap. 35Euro for dessert! Guess we'll go with simpler foods. I'm definitely not a 1%er.

Maybe sitting in Le Jules Vernes contemplating Paris while waiting to be served can make you forget about the price, at least til' you take the lift after the meal

I think French Laundry and Per Se are up there, but there's some Japanese omakase style places like Masa in NYC and Urasawa in Beverly Hills that cost more (like 500-600 per person).

I hate per se, I tried to make a reservation for my gf at the time. So you can make your reservation 30 days out, and they open to take reservation at like 10am. so I called at 10am for 30 days out and they're fully booked for 2 weeks after that date.. I was like how are you fully booked if today is the first day I can make reservation for that date. Its not like the phones were busy that I didn't get in at 10am ?

We thought about going there for our anniversary this year, but we are staying in the city and its way too far out. We're probably going to try Komi instead. I kinda want to try Rogue 24's 24 course sometime as well.

Depending on the time of year it can be pretty crazy getting a reservation, but just because you couldnt get a table, doesn't mean you should hate them

Anyone been to French Laundry? What did you think? I'm thinking of going soon.

You can't just 'go soon'. They're in such demand that the only way to go is to make reservations for the day exactly two months from when you make them, (or private dining).

I went out with a girl once at a nice sit down restaurant with a view of the bay. The check was $60. I would've had better luck getting some action taking her to dave and busters.

In the 90's, I went to New York City's oldest steakhouse.

In came four obnocious young wall street types. One of them was loud to ask the waiter, 'what's your most expensive steak?'

The waiter answered, that is the Kobe steak, and gave him the price.

Very quietly, he said, 'what's your second most expensive?'

They don't have Kobe beef in the US.

I think if you were a date rapist no jury would ever convict you due to lack of evidence.
