I came here to post this. And fix your spelling.

Many people don't pay much attention to the bass because so many groups use it as nothing more than a simple background.

When listening to Zeppelin, I often find myself focusing on the bass, because it's so fucking awesome and so much more complex than typical bass lines.

How about Edgar Meyer (classical, plays a double upright. Cut an album with Bela Fleck that is classical music played on the banjo and upright bass (primarily)).
