name this movie, old sci fi car chase

no it's not death race ....

so from what i remember the movie was about a closed society on the east coast in the future. the government doesn't want people to leave and i believe they assume the rest of the world is an apocalyptic wasteland. the main character is a guy who has a sportscar hidden in his garage and ends up either getting in trouble or deciding to leave (there are rumors of a free town in san francisco). the man and i believe a boy set off to san francisco. the evil government tries to stop him, with gun turrets, explosives, flying craft etc...

any ideas?

It stars Lee Majors.

hehe, that movie took a bad idea and made it worse with bad acting. I think MST3k did an episode with it, not totally sure though.

no, that was Logan's Run.

Brian mentions it before that scene when he says,"have you ever seen that movie 'Logan's Run?'"
