god I loved these games. Played populous on SNES, though. probably not as good...

I really would like to see a new Syndicate. ISOMETRIC of course. some dick fucks will buy the name and make a generic FPS clone POS out of it, I'm sure.

Maybe the same group that is currently working on further butchering XCOM.

Anyone here ever play Jumpman?

Mebbe I's too old.

I'm with ya baby!

Here's the time burners of my childhood. Let's shake my geezer stick:

Atari 800:
Ultima 3-5
Alternate Reality: The City
Jumpman (and Jr)
7 Cities of Gold
Rescue on Fractilus

Commodore 64:
Alternate Reality: The Dungeon
Ultima 4-5
Bard's Tale (all)
AD&D Gold Box games
Paradroid

PC:
Ultima 6-7
Wolf3D
Doom
Duke Nukem
Warcraft 2
C&C1 and Red Alert
UT99

I won't list anything past 2000

I just played Loom and The Dig over the weekend, and they were probably the best two adventure games I ever played. Neither seemed to have you doing puzzles just fo rhte sake of doing puzzles, and that managed to keep the suspension of disbelief.

I would love to see a remake of Syndicate. Even Syndicate Wars wasn't as good as the original. Hell, you don't really need to remake Syndicate, since the 2D graphics doesn't look bad at all, you would just need to make it run well on a modern OS.

I should still have Dig around here somewhere. Got to dig (no pun intended) that out and play it. Agreed both are fantastic games!!

Monster Truck Madness and the original Need For Speed and the SE version were two of my favorites. My longest-played PC game is Quake 3 Arena.

Planescape: Torment

I tried to get in to this game 2x around 2000-2001 or so but never got far- I just bought it on GOG to give it one last shot. Next on my list of "how the hell did I not play this" is System Shock 2. I really don't know how I missed it- I've never even tried that one.

As for my favorite- Tie fighter is up there, Half Life of course was great...BG/IWD - too hard to pick a fav.

Fallout.

Then Planescape: Torment.

Then Arcanum.

It's actually pretty easy to choose. Honorable mentions of Darklands, StarCraft, The Sims and Diablo 2.

Impossible to pick one, there were so many groundbreaking games back then, and some are still spawning "sequels". However, in order of preference:
1. Unreal
2. Half Life 2
3. Deus Ex
4. Thief
5. System Shock

First game I actually played and got me into gaming was Myst on PC. Still a favorite.

Hubby's favorite game of all time is Wing Commander Prophecy.

1. Doom II: Because it's perfected Doom I with double shotgun, much crazier monster madness and map design. I spent countless hours on this game. It's shame that even TODAY there's NO gameplay like it. No, Serious Sam and that other gothic FPS don't count- they're not even close in polish and killing meaty monsters.

2. Starcraft 1: There are games I spent more hours on it like Diablo II. But SC1 left so much more impression in me- amazing lore, great single player, awesome soundtrack... everything is right.

3. Diablo 1: Again, it just imprinted in my mind more than II. 1 was just.. mysterious... that Tristram guitar sound, small-town NPCs, and Butcher.... DII may have a superior gameplay, but this game is just magical.

4. Duke Nukem 3D : Just an awesome game. Lots of people just play this game at face value and only first act. But act II & III are just incredible. Map design is pure genius and some level are actually quite dark and eerier than Doom.

Serious Sam is BETTER.
Its more polished, has cooler weapons, and awesome mass enemy rushes.

Oh, and the super duper Duke 3D is on steam right now, dirt cheap.

Ah yes Unreal- I never actually finished the campaign, but that will always hold the biggest "wow" factor for me- so beautiful for it's time.

In no order.

Age of Wonders 2
Age of Empires 2
TES: Morrowind
Battlefield 2
Diablo 2

All older than 5 years, not sure they're all classics just yet. I think we should all just play these games and we'd have more fun than playing anything from the past 5 years.

Diablo + Hellfire
Championship Manager 2 97-98
Ultimate Civilization II Classic Collection
Descent
Zork I+II+III

Honourable Mentions:
Ikari Warriors (Atari ST)
Master of Orion (Atari ST)
KKND (PC)
