Wolfenstine 3D. I had the shareware version at first, then my dad got me the collector's edition CD, which had the whole game. It was the first CD-ROM game I ever owned. He had a PowerMacintosh 7100 that had a 17'' screen. He did a lot of CAD with it. That was huge at the time.

The first game that got me into computer building was probably Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002. I spent countless hours tweaking the program, downloading add-ons, and modifying my computer to get a butter smooth frame rate.

I dabbled with a lot of early text-based games like Zork, but Ultima III:Exodus was probably the first game I ever sank serious time into on my Apple IIc. It definitely was the game that hooked me on turn-based RPGs. Those were the days...

I'll start. The game that hooked me was the original M.U.L.E by Ozark Softscape. At the time I thought it was just ... unbelievable. I started playing it in 1983 on an old Atari 800 computer with three friends (the old 800 had four game ports on the front). I loaded it into memory with a cassette tape drive ... that is until I spent $300 (in 1994) on an 88K floppy drive (yay!). Load times decreased from 3 minutes to 10 seconds!

Well, what was your first?

same. except i played on an 800xl....and damn that ET game!

Diablo 1. I spent so many hours playing that online.. I remember staying up past my bedtime to play it, having my parents come downstairs and yelling at me to get to bed, and saying "I can't now, I'm just about to kill Diablo!" Ah, good times...

half-life

the train ride, black mesa, everything. First time crawling through a vent, around a corner and a head crab jumped. So did I. It was the first gaming experience that crossed the line into reality for me, it actually made me jump in my seat. Last weekend I was similarly surprised but even more pleased to find a Chieftan's Challenge in TF2. Never looked back.

Doom when I was a kid, I was 8 when it released. From there I went to warcraft 2 which was amazing at the time. Then kind of split between duke nukem 3D and total annihilation with a good amount of diablo thrown in. I don't remeber which really pulled me in but they got me dammit. As much as I try to not game so much I keep coming back for more.

Hugo's haunted house. I was like three, then I played Doom and the rest is history.

Yes Hugo's HH was on the good ol' 5.25 floppy.

Hugo's House of Horrors = I loved that one too. There were two sequels: Hugo 2 was basically impossible (I did eventually win it many years later); Hugo 3 was pretty easy though.

You must have been a pretty good reader if you could play Hugo at age 3.

AD&D Goldbox: Pool of Radiance

I had played many other simple pc games before, but PoR was what *really* got me hooked on PC gaming. I ended up completing all four titles in the Forgotten Realm series, and all the three titles in the Dragonlance series.

Somewhere in the middle of those I stumbled upon the Sierra games (Space Quest, King's Quest, Police Quest, Hero's Quest) and I just went out of control

Had my mom help me. This is why I read at a much higher level than most people in school.

My earliest gaming memories are a bit fuzzy, I'm not even sure which one drew me in, but I distinctly remember both the original Doom and Diablo games, as well as Might and Magic 2 (NOT Heroes of Might and Magic 2). I also used to play some QBasic games (one had giant apes who threw bananas at each other, forget the other one).

Either Alley Cat (1983) or Paratrooper (1982). My father took me to their office where I played on PC for the first time. I was sure command.com was a game it just won't start

So yeah, I'm not sure which one I played first but it was an instant addiction.

The first seriously awesome game that I remember was probably Eye of the Beholder. Matrix Cubed was also an important game for me.

I think it was maybe in 84 or 85.

Yeah, really.

It's the PC game that propelled me in PC gaming per se, but it's not the first PC game I've played, such was the main subject of this thread wasn't it.

True enough
And I get you - i guess I was captivated from the very first games I played. An easy sell, lol.
