I might throw Lamborghini off my list and replace it with Lotus...I'm biased that way, I admit it.

We're all biased toward the high-end stuff, really, since it's clearly better, as you'd expect if you compared a $100K sports/luxury car to any $30K car. What's needed is another cateogory (or two or three) - Best Car Brand (Regardless of cost) and Best Car Brand (Considering cost).

I don't have any favorite, but the 3 that seem to have the best marketing, or strongest, most loyal customers/fans are:
BMW
Subuaru
Ford

BMW 3 series are like cockroaches, they're everywhere and hard to kill. Subarus have their niche and somehow convince potential customers in places like SoCal that AWD is a necessity for their lifestyle even though their lifestyle isn't really part of that niche. Ford trucks, #1 selling truck in America, enough said.

I think most people complied as I hoped, they listed their personal favorite and kept it diverse. They didn't list the typical 10 year old's favorite cars, where you only list Ferrari, Lambo, or some other sports car.

I would hope most people on here can appreciate a luxury, or economical car, just as much as a sports car, although it may not be as fun to drive.

Also some interesting points to take home, Jules didn't have Lotus on the list, KIAman thinks nothing of KIA...oh and I a self proclaimed FWD loather have a FWD-whore on the list (AKA Honda)

There is no one brand I like more or less than others. Toyota generally stands for quality but lately more than a couple models have serious problems. BMW generally makes nice cars but that 100 series is not so hot for the money. Since they stopped with the Cherokees, the only worthwhile Jeep is the XJ. All the shitty American and Japanese brands have at least one nice flagship car.

I guess, after this morning, my new number 1 is now BMW. I just spent about an hour with a 335i. The test drive last month with a 325i was alright, but adding an extra hundred horsepower sure makes the overall experience a lot more enjoyable. Not to mention it had much better features. Both were used and in excellent condition.
Nissan would be number 2 just for a strong lineup across the board, and even though not everything is fancy, everything is at least drivable and reliable.

Cant pick a number 3. Five years ago I would have said Toyota. Not anymore.

EDIT:
In fantasy land its Saleen, McLaren, and Koenigsegg.

The problem with Toyota is that everything they now offer is boring as sin. No more Supra, Celica, Corolla GTS, MR2, etc. They do not make a single car I would want to drive for pleasure anymore. They're the Japanese Buick.

BMW
Porsche
Ferrari

Copycat!

Although my old KIA did its service for 10 trouble free years, I wouldn't call it one of my favorite brands of cars.

I chose BMW because they have the best balance between blatant driver oriented engineering, daily driveability, and sticking with the I6 (so far). Porsche for sticking with the flat6 rear engine layouts. Ferrari because they have the sexiest exterior designs and sticking with HO NA engines.

Porshe is the car I dreamed of
Ford is my first rememberances of cars and a soft spot
Honda is just so damn good at making cars

I'm surprised at the lack of love for GM being the #1 for so many decades

Brands? That's hard because each brand makes more than one car and then, you get the shamefully bad ones with the excellent ones.

Overall, I would say:

Ultra Lux - Maserati: Pure expression and elegance.

Lux - BMW: some of the greatest performance oriented vehicles. A couple uglies here and there, but overall pretty good.

Mainstream: Hmm don't think I care. Too much crap strewn around each mainstream brand. However, since Nissan makes the GT-R, they are closest thing I guess. When Toyota returns with a Supra and Celica, then they'd get vote back.

In no particular order :

Affordable cars/trucks : Ford
Luxury : BMW
Exotic : Ferrari (the 458 is godly, and handily smokes anything in the competing ranges)
