Perknose posted Sgt Wilson above me, here is pic of him. He was part of my squad in southern helmand province the first Afghan tour he did. Just a squad of Marines out in the middle of nowhere staying in a tiny PB several clicks away from anyone else. Tons of good memories, been through a lot together.

A saying goes, Hero's aren't born on a football or baseball field, they're born in jungles and deserts of foreign countries.



A true American Hero. Loved American and what it stood for. Tattoo'd it across his chest.

Thanks for putting a face and a story to what was just a name on a very sad list, Ackmed.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died May 18, in Asadabad, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an indirect fire. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion (Air Assault), 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Killed were:

Sgt. Michael J. Knapp, 28, of Overland Park, Kan., and

Sgt. Jabraun S. Knox, 23, of Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Samuel T. Watts, 20, of Wheaton, Ill., died May 19, in Bethesda, Md., of wounds sustained April 25, in Zharay, Afghanistan, when he was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device.

Watts was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.


The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died May 20, in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 168th Brigade Support Battalion, 214th Fires Brigade, Fort Sill, Okla.

Killed were:

Capt. Jesse A. Ozbat, 28, of, Prince George, Va., and

2nd Lt. Tobias C. Alexander, 30, of Lawton, Okla.

Capt. John R. Brainard, 26, of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; and Chief Warrant Officer Five John C. Pratt, 51, of Springfield, Va.



The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Tofiga J. Tautolo, 23, of Wilmington, Calif., died May 27, in Bati Kot, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device.

Tautolo was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Alexander G. Povilaitis, 47, of Dawsonville, Ga., died May 31, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when the enemy attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Povilaitis was assigned to 14th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

This incident is under investigation.

Master Chief Petty Officer Richard J. Kessler Jr., 47, of Gulfport, Fla., was found deceased in his berthing compartment June 8 on board USS Enterprise (CVN 65). He was assigned to Enterprise as a logistics specialist. Enterprise is currently deployed to the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility conducting operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
