The Department of Defense has identified 829 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

BOHLMAN, Jeremy L., 21, Lance Cpl., Marines; Sioux Falls, S.D.; First Marine Division.

KHAN, Humayun S. M., 27, Capt., Army; Bristow, Va.; First Infantry Division.

The mother of a 24-year-old Marine from Kentucky killed in hostile fire in Iraq said her son had dreams of one day becoming an FBI agent.

Lance Cpl. Deshon E. Otey, 24, of Radcliff, Ky., was a rifleman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which is based at Camp Pendleton in California. He was killed Monday in the al-Anbar province of Iraq, officials said Tuesday.





And:
Officials on Tuesday also announced the deaths of two other Marines who were in Otey's battalion.

They were: Cpl. Tommy L. Parker, Jr., 21, of Cleburne, Ark., and Lance Cpl. Pedro Contreras of Harris, Texas. Like Otey, both were riflemen assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.

The bravery of these men and women is astounding and beyond belief to me. I only hope that I can live my life as good as I can in honor of their sacrifice, and be inspired by their courage should I ever be called upon to make the sacrifice myself.
