Trolling aside, it makes perfect sense why they'd use a Mac. Macs support some really rare Unixy software like Matlab, which Windows doesn't support, so why not go with the best Unix laptop/OS combo out there?

You can't run Matlab on Windows? Or is it just that it doesn't natively support it? I don't know much about math software, but I've installed Matlab on tons of PCs before.

I've had a bit of interaction with some of the programmers and engineers at JPL and every one I came in contact with was using a Dell laptop dual booting Windows and Linux. That doesn't mean, of course, that there aren't Macs being used as well.
