it's funny now that i think of it. Who invented it? they must of thought...hey let's make it so that they'll run in circles for hundred of times so that they'll get exhausted, and to make it fun for us to watch, we'll overload the track with cars so that by the 99th laps, they'll get exhausted and crash and burn.

Oval track racing is better for spectators...which is why Nascar is the biggest form of racing in the USA.
Rally or F1 might be more fun for the drivers.....or it might not be. In F1, you pretty much only have to watch 2-3 drivers all season....the same dude wins the title pretty much every year.
Nascar is much more competitive. And anyone who says that all they do is drive in a circle is a complete and total idiot.
As are those who think that oval track racing is easier than road racing.
A good race car driver is a good race car driver, period. Take the top F1 dudes, they can probably do well in Nascar.
Take the top Nascar guys, they can do well in F1.....except that F1 is all about the money....it isn't an even playing field.
Jeff Gordon and Juan Montoya traded cars once for a demo. Both drivers dialed in their own cars, then tried each other's.
Gordon turned a lap in Montoya's car only 1.3 seconds slower than Montoya's best, and Montoya ran 1.1 seconds behind Gordon's best in the #24 car.
This was after less than 10 laps of practice for both drivers.
Racing is racing....after you're familiar with the equipment, it's all about the driver. European drivers grow up watching F1, so that's what they aspire to. American drivers come up watching Nascar, and that's what many of them aspire to.
One is not any harder than the other....in fact, the F1 cars are probably easier to drive, since they have brake control and automatic (for all intents) transmissions.
F1 has the more advanced equipment, but that doesn't make it better....just faster. And different.
But as far as a spectator sport, Nascar, and every other form of oval track racing, is superior to F1 and other forms of road racing. If you are at a Nascar race, you can generally see the entire track and have a grasp of what's going on, and where everyone is in relation to the leaders.
At a road course, you can't do that. And that's why Nascar is so popular here.
