Why is it that anytime CanOWorms opens his big mouth, he says something stupid?

Hmmm... let's see, Norway, Sweden, Holland and Denmark are monarchies... the first two consistently top all the statistics of most desirable countries to live in... yep, can't be any further away from Big Brother and totalitarianism than that... but I assume our resident troll here will follow-up his constant Europe-bashing by posting some articles about baby-eating in Scandinavia and so on.

Seriously, dude, chill... It's not the first time you bask in the glow of prejudice against Europeans. Did you have an unfortunate childhood encounter with Marc Dutroux, that made you hate the French and everyone else on the Old Continent to the point at which you have to scour the Internet, looking for sordid stories that illustrate your righteous hatred towards Peens and Euroweenies, and then post them on ATOT, along with your rabid comments? I can't remember last time seeing you actually posting something useful anyplace else on this forum, or answering a question posed by someone looking for help. True, I don't stay on AT nearly as much as you do, either...

You're seemingly a person who's done some reading, and you like to claim you base your opinions on lectures, but I suspect your reading is largely based on "The Left Behind" series and other books with much more hatred and lesser science than what would be expected at a civilized level. You REALLY hate Europe, and everything it stands for, you despise Canada... You consistently post uninformed crap about these parts of the world (like you just did in the post above), and make value judgments fit for toilet-wall graffitis and bumper stickers. And the saddest part of it all is that European history is your history as well. Then you do an about-face and say your parents were immigrants - that's also a typical attitude of a first-generation resident (in any country), who tries to beat the loudest drum on his chest, afraid that otherwise his redneck friends won't consider him one of theirs...

Go to a library, read some books on history and political science that were put out by Harvard, Cambridge or Oxford, instead of Oral Roberts University, then leave this board for six months or so and take a trip to Europe. Make sure you go to all the countries you hate - although the list seems endless. Then you can come here again, and whatever you'll post, it will at least be informed, if not objective still...

Ok, I get it, we were getting bogged down too much in details.

If you look at your Patriot Act, police powers were vastly expanded. Would this not bring you closer to a police state than having healthcare? Or domestic content restricions on media?

Police state = Police powers over individual.

Edit: To have political power means to be able to do things. I hope that I have proven that she effectively can't, no matter what the formalities are.

Yep, the Patriot Act brings us closer to a police state.

And so does the institution of the National Intelligence Director.

Now we're finally back to what this thread was SUPPOSED to be about.

That UN survey take in factors such as education, health care, life expectancy, etc. It doesn't take into account the type of government. You can have a dictatorship or any other type of government.

Posting articles that are negative towards Europe or sentiment or society's views does not mean someone is prejudiced against Europeans. I also post positive things. I've even posted negative things about hte US.

People don't come to P&N to get questions answered - they come to read news and debate.

We have people on this forum that post all negative things about Israel. Are they anti-semitic? No. It must suck to live in such a simple, black/white only world.

I rarely post opinion pieces. I post factual articles from respected journalists and news organizations. I don't despise Canada. I compliment Canada all the time. But, I'm not blinded. In this case, I feel that Canada is just closer to a police state with the reasons I supplied, which are all based on fact.

It's funny that you're painting me as a conservative Bible thumper who hates science. That's the exact opposite of me. If you ever read my posts, you would know that I'm not even Christian and my political beliefs are very pro-science. In fact, many of my posts are pro science-related. I hope you're either a scientist or engineer.

You probably think I'm a conservative Bible-thumper because you believe everything about Europe is liberal and you see me bashing their immigration & minority sentiment. However, you need to realize that their actions aren't liberal. They're conservative in this regard.

It seems to me that you're uninformed. You don't debate any points. You're just attacking the poster. Everything I say is a fact, including in this thread regarding how the monarchy is rooted in law.

I don't hate Europe. Some of the greatest humanitarian ideas came from there. They just don't practice it well right now. Maybe you support their ethnicity-based legislations and punishments of minorities. Doesn't mean I have to.

I don't think you're the type of person that can suggest such a thing. You don't even read my posts. You claim that the BBC, CNN, etc. are all fake. You just attack character. That's not the type of stuff you read in "books on history and political science that were put out by Harvard, Cambridge or Oxford."

Seriously, like, you know, chill girl!!!

Having a central office for intelligence that is secure seems to be a good idea. You would expect these different agencies to resist this because it could become a turf war and start a battle over which agency gets what money. I dont think they are going far enough. We dont need a separate FBI, CIA and whatever else we have. Just because different people do different things it does not mean they all have to be in a different agency. Just centralize everything and you should be able to reduce administrative overhead and wasted money on the budget.

This has no real bearing on freedom. Congress still makes the laws.

It is only the Criminals that should be worried about this.

But centralization goes against everything the U.S. stands for. Instead of having many different heads (head of CIA, head of FBI, head of DOD, etc.) with many different agendas and points of view, you'll now have one head person overseeing everything and making the key decisions. Instead of having power distributed among many, you're giving power to one individual... power which can and will corrupt. Sounds like it's just one step closer to totalitarianism.

I don't think that this proposal gives absolute power to the National Intelligence Director. I don't even think that this person will be able to fire senior personnel or even set budgets of each organization.
