Yeah, but people aren't going to work the phones for their health, they are going to require a paycheck. And how will Red Hat offset that cost? Thats right, they will have to charge for their software. So now we are back to square one.
IF you need tech support, you can (in order):
1) Visit linuxdoc.org or the equivalent for the piece of software that you are using
2) Search google
3) Post a question somewhere
4) Call redhat or some other such company and pay them to solve your problem.
Even if you have to fall back to #4, you
1) Will have saved time & money by using software that is far less buggy than the closed-source standard.
2) Will pay less than you would have for the closed-source software
Also: Have you ever tried to get tech support for windows? Whats the first thing that you hear when you pick up the phone? "REFORMAT, REINSTALL".
