A small problem with Norton Internet Security 2003, which includes Norton Antivirus 2003. Program came with Gigabyte goodies disc. Had a problem, reinstalled. LiveUpdate doesn't work AT ALL. I think this might have something to do with registration issues :frown:. It says that it couldn't phone home, so I have to reconfigure LiveUpdate later. But this problem seems to destroy the whole AV system, and I can't do anything with the internet unless I forcefully turn everything OFF.

The question is, "HOW do I reconfigure?"! By the way, I have bought another year's worth of LiveUpdate previously, but I forgot how their authentication process worked. Did they give you some sort of LiveUpdate number or code to give to the site upon activation?

do you mean you cannot update your virus detection using Liveupdate or that Liveupdate could not connect to the server?

If the first instance is true then you need to check the date that Liveupdate is supposed to expire. It shows up on the main screen

The registration process works by registration keys. You get a key that will only work for 2 weeks and you have to enter it into the Liveupdate screen.

No, the LiveUpdate component had 'difficulties' connecting to the Symantec server for registration DURING the installation process, therefore it wasn't installed properly, as in not at all.

The LiveUpdate component is critical for all the other functions of NAV, including options and system scans. I do not know how to initiate a process that would lead to the installation of LiveUpdate.

I'd uninstall and reinstall NAV, but I can't even create a user account with Supervisor privileges to do so. Therefore I am at an impasse of which I need assistance. As a last resort I could use the manual removal tool for NAV from the Symantec website, but I know that will cause problems.

Are you running Windows Service Pack 2? If so sometimes the Windows firewall can affect your Liveupdate connection.

If this applies to you, check out this link to enable Liveupdate from your list of programs.

If the problem still exists, go to this page here and download lusetup.exe and see if it fixes the problem.
