I'm not sure what the north bridge exactly does, but I do know you don't want to fry it.
You should either buy a new fan for it, or get a north bridge heat sink (zalman makes
a model). I replace mine w/ a heat sink and it works fine (A8N-SLI Deluxe).

Instead of starting multiple threads on the same subject, you will get better response if you respect the other users of these forums and create one thread. You can bump the thread if there is no activity on it for a while. But, all your threads are still on this first page.

If everybody created multiple threads on the same subject, these forums would become useless.

if it's staying under 60 C, it should be fine (while benchmarking/ gaming)

if it is over that, buy a new NB cooler or just put a fan next to to your NB blowing on it (ghetto, but it works)

If you have difficulty using the utility I linked to, can you use SpeedFan or Motherboard Monitor instead?
Do you not have a CD that came with your motherboard with a utility on it?
Can you not download such utility from the manufacturer's web site?

Please reply here instead of sending private messages. It is easier to track this way.

I just did a re-build with that board. One of the problems was a dead NB fan, you can see the damage the heat from the nForce4 caused in my thread.

You can't measure the exact temp of the north bridge with that board. It will give you CPU and system temp, that?s all.

Click on "Motherboard" I think and then on "Sensors".

Motherboard is Northbridge or as close as you can get to it. The sensor may not be right close to it.

I went with the Thermalright HR-05 SLI.

Originally I wanted to use a Zalman such as the ZM-NB47J but I wasn't sure it would fit under the video card; I'm now told that it will.

The Thermalright has no problems keeping the chipset cool but I was unable to angle the heatsink down due to a capacitor blocking one of the heatpipes. Instead I had to face the heatsink towards the right hand side of the board which will cause problems for longer video cards and depending on the case sit very closes to the hard drives.

When time permits I'll be adding pics of the HR-05 on the MSI board.

Nothing there corresponds to the north bridge chipset, I know because I checked.

The first thing I did when I was working on that system was check the temps. Motherboard/system temp read in the low 30's, as the fan wasn't turning and the heatsink itself was very small I knew that couldn't be right. To get a better idea I used a digital thermometer and measured the surface of the heatsink in the low 60's. That was after about 5-10 mins at idle in the BIOS.

OK. Ehat do u think bout the thermaltake Crystal Orb. Is it better than the zalman. At least its smaller.

I dont think the case would be a problem with the zalman's. My case is a supertower one

No, if the Zalman fits use it. The Thermaltake doesn?t look like it's much better then what came with the board. If for some reason it doesn?t I would go with the Thermalright HR-05 SLI like I did.
