NB Question

Well Thanks everyone. Now i have another question. Does the Northbridge problem can cause a video card to have display problems. For xample. My ati radeon x300Se 128mb suddenly displayed distorted videos. and you can see lines across the windows logo on post

I realized the problem was intermitent because the day before yesterday i was watching the same movii and everything was cool. Even the windows logo. but im not sure if the nb overheat could be the problem..................

Either way, I think you should fix the Northbridge cooling before worrying about graphics.

I'm sure the HR-05 SLI would be fine with your card since the X300 is a low-end part and low-end cards are always shorter. The system I was working on had a new 7600GT go in and it fit fine, I'll have pics up later. A 7900GT or higher card might have problems however.

Usually visual artifacts are solely caused by the video card but I wouldn't rule it out until you get the chipset (north bridge) properly cooled. If you have a spare fan around you can try setting it in the case and pointing it at the chipset and see if makes any difference until you have the replacement heatsink ready to go.

I finally installed the Thermalright HR-05 SLI. I was so scared. But now I dont know what I should do. Is there any way for me to see the northbridge temp. And would an overtemp on this chip have an impact on my video card which is now my worry? I'll appreciate your help.

I have a K8N Neo4-F that the NB fan started to go bad. They are known for this problem. The real fix calls for the motherboard to be removed. I know what your thinking "No Way".
I said the same thing but the noise got to me and I wanted to upgrade the CPU also so i went for it.
The Vantec IceberQ fan fit perfect. It won't interfer with any video cards like the Zalman passive will. Just my two cents.

Sorry. accidentally pressed reply... I dont think I have to replace it since the only problem Im having here is Video. As I know the MSI Radeon X300 SE is one of the worst Video cards ever. I would like someone to tell me if that's true. I wanted to know if my video problem could've been caused by my Northbridge issue. My computer is working properly, just with this video issue. Since I replaced my monitor i could realize how bad my problem was, so me wanna know if theres is a way to test the video card or just send it to a garbage can next to me. By the way, replacing the motherboard, that would be a good idea if I were at US. Here in Dominican Republic is hard to find good options and how do I know if my motherboard is having problems. I think is not.
