NBA 2K9 out for PC

I just ordered mine, should get it in a few days... From what I've read it's a port of the 360 version (not PS2 a la NBA Live) and runs well on mid-high range systems.

So exciting, finally a real NBA game comes to PC .

what i really want is a baseball game back on PC.

i'll give this nba game a try though, it got decent reviews (the xbox version at least).

Same, MVP 08 is cool but it'd be nice to have an updated graphics engine. Maybe (with this news, probably even) next year...

hot diggity. i'll prolly get in on ps3 but its good to know its out on pc. hopefully it sells well enoguh for them to continue. 2k basketball is far far superior to the junk ea puts out.

i always enjoyed the 2K sports series for my dreamcast. 2k football was better than madden

Nice. If it's at least $10 cheaper and more mod-friendly I might consider picking it up over the PS3 version.

$10 cheaper? It's $20 brand new. Compare that to the $60 price tag for the console versions (and the $50 EA was charging for their crap). :Q

I have it, and I have to say no matter what EA decides to do with Live, I will only be buying 2K. The gameplay and atmosphere is so much more authentic than Live, it's no contest. However, there is no online play for the PC version, but I only play for the franchise/association mode anyways, so that doesn't affect me.

BTW, I have this on 360. Here are my impressions:

+ much more realistic than the previous ones. The AI is much better. You can't run the same old cut plays and dunk the ball every time on offense like you could in 2k8 w/ Duncan/Garnet/Howard

+ waaaaay to many charging calls. I understand it adds to the realism that you can't just force the ball to the hoop but I get called for charges 50 feet from the basket.

+ waaaay to easy to block shot and get shots blocks.

+ no more blind passing: you have to actually set up and offense and chose who gets the ball rather than smash the X button

+ very difficult to pick off inbound passes like you can in 2k8.

+ free throws more realistic in the sense than its far more difficult to get offense boards off a miss.

It launched and none of the games had the product activation key included in the box. So eventually 2k sports put a notice on their site that they knew about the issue and they should have a fix at the end of the day. Basically they just got rid of the need to input the activation key.

I play the game with the x360 controller and it's pretty awesome.. shame that it doesn't have the online features. It would've been awesome to at least have living rosters, but what more can you ask for with $20.

Yea for $20 hell I'm probably ganna buy it. I'm sure there will be mods for it that will be the same thing as living rosters.

It looks like it's been pulled from a lot of stores for the time being. Amazon has it as available starting November 3rd. Buy.com has it sold out.

I don't typically buy basketball games (I usually rent them from gamefly or whatever and play it for a while), but for $20? Why not.

I'll wait for a steam distribution though.

That's crazy.. didn't realize that. Check your local gamestop since that was the only store that I knew that even got it in. It's still available on their website too.

As far as the PC version, any feature that requires internet connection has been taken out.

Well, got mine in, Steam activation worked flawlessly... And the game plays flawlessly . Only problem I've seen is that some menus lag like crazy. It seems like a literal direct port of the X360 version (wording gives it away - don't hit power or reset, etc.), which is fine; it's nice to finally have a 'new' sports game for PC anyway.

I do not like basketball, but $20 for the PC version that is a (near) direct copy of the $60 360 version is an excellent deal.

I've seen several mods thrown around on the official forums; most are only skins right now (and they generally look great).

How does one actually play a basketball game with keyboard and mouse? I mean I know most of you use a controller, but if there are people who play it with keyboard + mouse, HOW!? is all I am asking.
