Carmello's shown he can perform in a big time spotlight w/ real competition. But I'd hate to be known as the GM who passed on Lebron James....

Lebron's the "safe-keep-my-job" pick.

Carmello Anthony no doubt. I've seen videos of James in high school games and he's simply amazing, but the NBA is quite different obviously. Anthony is more experienced, and IMHO has bigger potential than other any college player I've seen in years.

1. Carmello Anthony
2. Darko Milicic
3. LeBron James

LeBron has had the most hype over the past year but IMHO Carmello and Darko would be better choices.

if i were an owner, definately lebron.
draw out a crowd just to see him play = mo money.
but if he turns out to be a stinker after a year
then your screwed.

one of the high school kids. Takes a few years for them to get into it and then they flourish... well a few .. Garnett, Bryant and O'Neil .. then there are a crop of noones, i don't even know their names.

why would anyone choose carmelo over lebron? will NEVER happen.... Lebron will sell tickets where/ever he goes and will most like be a major stand-out player for years to come....not as certain w/ the mellow man..

I don't think you could say that Carmello could play strong at three different positions the way you can with Lebron...

Uh, why not? James and Carmelo are almost identically the same height and weight, and looking at Carmelo's college stats in rebounds I'm really not sure what you're talking about. Besides, could you say that Jordan can play 3 different positions? No, but does it really matter? Obviously not. Jordan's poise, skills at his position, and his ability to come through in the clutch are what makes him great.

Besides, what has James proved that Carmelo hasn't? Just look at what Carmelo did this year for Syracuse. Besides having tremendous potential what has James proven?

Carmelo Anthony is a winner. He proved that. James hasn't proved anything to me except athleticism. Hell, sure he scores a lot of points but it always seems like he shoots 3-15 and then ends up shooting 15-30 or something with the other 12 field goals being dunks and put backs. Sure you can do that against high schoolers but I want to see you do that in the NBA. He doesn't seem like he has the desire that you need to work on your game to be great in the NBA. He'll be a good player or a nice role player but not great. I watched a game with Lebron and he couldn't shoot so he just stands around...most people run around and get rebounds or at least do something. He just stood around. Another example is in the McDonalds all american game, there was like 5 minutes left and the other team has a fast break 3 on 1 Lebron James just stands there and lets them dunk...man at least challenge the shot...

FInally the thing that makes me mad is when he was interviewed at the Mcey d's game and he says if the best player on the floor can get people involved then it sets a good example. He already thinks hes the best...he thinks he has nothing to prove. I hate that..you always have room for improvement. Hell, I didn't think he was the most skilled player on the floor...it seemed like everyone was buying into the hype and throwing hime the ball. The guy I thought was the most skilled was some point guard whos going to Oklahoma....

He does have some nice dunks and nice assists though. I could care less about dunks but I like a guy who can pass...

Darko Milicic

I think it's always hard to pass up on size like that. he's 18 and he's 7' 245.

he could be the next Dirk.

you realize that Moses Malone, a HOFer, 2 time World Champion, also came straight out of high school, yes??

At the end of their respective careers, Garnet MIGHT be better than Moses, but RIGHT now, moses has had a GREAT career and garnet has yet to prove himself.

agree. let's put it this way. if lebron doesn't pan out, it's not your fault. if you pick anthony or milicic and either doesn't pan out and you passed up james, you're fired and done in the NBA.

all you Anthony fan-boys need to remember one thing. it's not like 'Melo and LeBron have never been on the same floor together. and no one who has seen the two of them play together thinks Anthony is better than James. no one. last year, after his junior year, James tore Anthony up in the summer games. that's why he'll go first. for all of you who never heard of Anthony before this year, get a grip. or a clue.

There is no doubt Lebron is good. But why do people call him the best high school player ever. There is no doubt in my mind he is the best one this year. But come on.
There are a long list of hall of fame NBA players that were better in high school than lebron james just media coverage wasn't there to make it a media frenzy.

As for who will go first Lebron. Its a no win situation. If you don't take him and he preforms well, you will be forever known as the guy that passed on Lebron, but if he
fails, you wasted a pick but 10 years down the road no one will question the pick, Lebron will be nothing more than a reason on why high school players shouldn't be drafted.

As for Lebron is the next coming of Michael Jordan lets wait and see, he is good, but he is still playing high schoolers. He is playing kids that cannot drive yet. Don't let that
get lost on you. Things will be a bit different when he is playing against guys who do this for a living. I don't think I know of anyone that has come from High School and been
an immediate star, if there are some its a very very small number. Problem is the team that drafts him is going to have some expectation of him playing well. And the media is
going to expect great things right away. How Lebron fares will be based on how he can deal with his failings.

Small Forward, Point Guard, and Shooting Guard. Yes I can say Jordan can play 3 positions. Next?

Lebron no question. He is the next Magic for the NBA and he's bigger, stonger and faster than Magic ever was. Truly scary. Time to purchase NBA season ticket or whatever it is I can see all the cavs games...

If I wanted to win games now I'd go with Carmello. If I wanted job security I'd pick LeBron. No matter how LeBron does he's still good from an owner standpoint in that he'll sell alot of tickets.

Who ever the Knicks draft, I bet you they would trade him for some over the hill, over paid, underachieving scrub :disgust: :|

<---Pissed off that the Knicks traded Nene Hilario(sp?) for McDyess(sp?) last year.

If this was this draft, it'd be

1. Darko = Hakeem
2. Sam Bowie = Sam Bowie
3. Lebron = Jordan (eeeeehhhhh, wrong answer!!)

But seriously, I like Carmelo alot. Lebron is talented as hec but overhyped even more. Darko is big and you can't buy size. Depending on the team I'd take Carmelo (over Lebron) or Darko if I need a banger inside.
