North Carolina senators are calling for Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson's resignation after video of him speaking at a church surfaced.

"PINEHURST, N.C. — Multiple North Carolina state representatives are demanding that Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a Republican, resign after a video surfaced showing him describing the LGBTQ community as "filth."

The video, first shared by Right Wing Watch, a project of the progressive advocacy group People For the American Way, shows Robinson speaking at the Asbury Baptist Church in Seagrove during a visit in June, local NBC affiliate WRAL reported.


"I'm saying this now, and I've been saying it, and I don't care who likes it: Those issues have no place in a school. There's no reason anybody anywhere in America should be telling any child about transgenderism, homosexuality — any of that filth," he said.

He added: "And yes, I called it filth. And if you don't like it that I called it filth, come see me and I'll explain it to you. It's time for us to stop letting these children be abused in schools, and it's not going to happen till the people of God stand up and demand different, same ones that established those schools to begin with.""

Or, maybe some internal struggle with one’s own sexuality which I believe definitely the case in this instance. That would explain LT governors going off on his rant. Obviously, this guy needs some professional help with his internal struggles.

I would suspect it is a lot harder for a gay black teen growing up in a black family than for a white teen growing up in a white family. Only a guess.

While I think that generalization is changing, there is a lot of data to show that different marginalized groups don't usually work together. The groups usually have different concerns, and rightfully, marginalized people focus on their needs first when those needs are related to survival.

Additionally, studies show that when a person from an oppressed class raised to power, the often become more oppressive than the original oppressive class. It's a way to prove they are now part of the power class. They often say "I did it. Those others are lazy." I won't bore with examples. Although with more light being shone on systemic racism and it being acceptable to care for the oppressed, this is seeming to happen less in minority groups. We still see it in poor whites that rise to power, they have a chip on their shoulder from having to work so hard when most whites have it easy.

I couldn't believe that this guy got elected in NC. Never held office before -- came to prominence via some weird speech at a school board meeting, if I remember correctly. I kind of get Trump and Tillis winning NC, but I don't get this guy winning (while the Dem governor and attorney generals won re-election).

Why is it that a lot of religiously influenced folks are suckers for being played into the hands of money grubbing "evangelists" and "politicians" that promise everlasting life and emotional ecstasy without ever delivering on their promises. One can easily surmise why science are their nemesis that must be defeated by faith in the word of their leaders.

And in keeping with that fairness, it should be pointed out that evangelical churches are every bit as corrupted with sex offenders as their catholic counterparts. Southern Baptists in particular. Catholics do not hold a monopoly on sexually abusing children, though there seems to be a lot more adultery and conspiracy on the protestant side.

America is slowly putting the crutch down. Number of people attending various churches has been declining for years and continues to. Given what holy rollers continue to do to their neighbors and this country, I hope that trend speeds up. Having such intellectually and morally bankrupt poseurs play less of a role in society (especially school) is very much A Good Thing.
