I thought about it today after I put this game on eBay...was I judging it to fast...I pulled it off the shelf and tossed it in again tonight to spin a game online...

Two words...

PAT WHITE...

Talk about ridiculously...it was like watching a grown man play against pee wee players...so friggin fast it was unstoppable...the whole game all the kid I played did was drop back 20-30 yards and do a HUGE rollout to the wide side of the field...did matter if I blitzed the corners...did a wide zone...or even put the fasted guy on LSU's D on him...he just outran or juked the entire team...

I would seriously like to meet the project manager / main game designer for this one and shake his hand...that he could put out a pile like this and still have a job...he has got to have some skills!

Good god. Just sell the fucking game and get over yourself already.

40% of your complaints are against what random 13 year-olds do online. Make some friends who play legitimately and play them. Go to operationsports.com and find somebody legit to play. Quit whining about it. Another 40% of your complaints are about what Corso suggets. Learn the game of football and pick your own damn plays? Corso is simply there for beginners, why are you using it anyway? The remaining 20% is legitimate stuff, and stuff that can be looked over if you're having enough fun with the game.

I held back previously, but now I've said my peace. Good luck with your sale, I hope you make all the money back you think you deserve.

You can think what you want...if you think that there is only 20% legitimately wrong with the game then you go right ahead...

I guess the 5 pages of forum posts that I linked to earlier about people whining about game play issues are just as bad as what I am irritated with.

I would have liked to play with people who I know or who don't play the game retarded...maybe that is half my issue, I have only played random people who "like you said" are probably random kids...

I said that 20% of what you were complaining about was legitimate gripes.

When you play random people online, most of them play anybody and everybody because of one thing....rankings. Those people use whatever tactics they can to get anoter W on the leaderboards. Everybody else is playing their friends in online dynasties and through private games, because that's the only true way to get a good, realistic game.

Good point of view, I didn't look at it that way which is my fault...

I like to jump on and play a quick game when I have the time (which isn't usually the case)...I would have liked to have done something in a private dynasty or some private games...

Thanks for your point of view Blurred...

I may consider opening up a spot in my dynasty for you if you're interested, but I'm not sure I want to add anybody. We've been going since release, and are currently midway through season 2 with 9 guys. Thing is, all 9 of us are on the same page, and we move pretty quickly every week, and I'm afraid if I add another, that new person may slow us down.

Hey there,

Thanks a lot for the offer...I did wind up selling the game over the weekend...probably for the best. I should have inquired about a private league a while ago...oh well. Maybe next year or something.

Thanks again Blurred!

Well, I was actually able to find a copy of the game this weekend, and I have to admit, I am (so far) pleasantly surprised. Honestly, I don't see the holes in the D that everyone is describing. I play on the Heisman difficulty level, so I'm not sure if it's just an issue with the lower difficulties. In Madden, I was using the new My Skill feature and also playing on All Pro, and noticed a lot of dickery by the CPU (both on my own team and the opponent's), but when I switched to All Madden, it turned into a real game of football.

The same happened with NCAA. On Heisman, I had a real game on my hands that felt realistic and exciting down to the last 3 seconds of the game. I'm an OSU (#3) alum and current student, so they're my team all the way. I set up a rivalry game with Illinois (#18) and the CPU put up a helluva fight. I threw 3 interceptions that I totally deserved, and I had a legitimately difficult time moving the ball up the field (more than I could say for NCAA 08). One thing I did notice is that I could sack and tackle for a loss all day long with 46 Bear and 5-2, but I haven't decided yet if it's simply due to the fact that OSU's D-line are studs (in the game, not in real life... anyone catch OSU v OU this weekend? Yikes...).

The Option isn't the money play it was last year, either. I ran it 4 or 5 times in the game, and only once did I get a true break away. Illinois ran it at least once per possession, but I had no problem shutting it down all but one time.

There's actually one area where I think NCAA even shines over Madden. Madden over-pursues human controlled players like a pack of dogs on a three-legged cat, which is my biggest complaint about it this year. For instance, on a kick-off, the receiving team's blockers will hunt YOU down (by "you" I mean YOU PERSONALLY, not your team), largely ignoring your teammates in its effort to neutralize you. It does the same thing with the running game. If you hit a good hole with your back, you can expect all line backers and safeties to instantly shed their blocks and teleport right on top of your asshole.

I don't see these tendencies in NCAA... at least not to the degree they exist in Madden.

My game with Illinois boiled down to the final 20 seconds. I was up 21 to 14 and Illinois was on my 2 yard line. On 1st and goal I blitzed 8 out of the 46 Bear and stopped their Option on my 8 yard line. They got to my 5 with a screen pass on 2nd and goal. No gain with a run up the gut on 3rd and goal. With 3 seconds left, they ran the option and I stopped them inside the 1 yard line.

My wife and I were both losing our minds, screaming and cheering, and pumping our fists like this was the real thing.

I don't play many online football games, honestly. My friends don't get into it much, and I can't stand playing random strangers in a one-on-one setting, especially when so many of them are prone to exploiting the cheese. That said, even if you can take a 20 yard drop with your QB to freeze the D and then throw a TD bomb, who should you really be pissed at? I agree that it's pretty ridiculous that this is even possible, but at the same time, no football fan with any measurable sense of honor and shame would pull that shit.

The best football game of all time - NFL 2k5 - had a similar weakness. You could roll your QB out - any QB, that is - and stall in the backfield all day long while you waited for a receiver to get open. My damn brother in law would play with Michael Vick each and every time, run the same damn play each and every time, and there was very little I could do about it. So, I stopped playing football with my brother in law (and made no bones with him about why).

Problem solved.

*deep breath*

That all said, if anyone is interested in an Online Dynasty and is willing to let me play as Ohio State, I'm totally up for it.

By the way, every once in a while I went to Corso for a suggestion. The play suggestions actually seem worse this year than they were last year. The CPU's defensive play suggestions are WAY too conservative if you ask me, and oftentimes, totally inappropriate for the situation at hand. I think using this feature would only be helpful in a scenario where two human players are novices and don't know what the different formations offer.

I would strongly suggest to anyone falling into that category that they go out and buy this year's strategy guide by Prima, even if they don't have Madden and only intend to play NCAA.

The guide has a TON of information on all of the formations found in the game, including when to use them, how to spot them being used by the other team, etc. This year's guide really is a fountain of knowledge.

If you don't want to spend the money on the guide, there are plenty of forums on the net dedicated to EA football. Regardless, you MUST understand the formations if you're going to be a contender, especially against real opponents.

Online play question:

Is there a cheat of some sort that allows people to pause the game? I can't understand what's going on, but I'm up 14-0 on a guy (just got a sack to make it 2nd and 20), and first the buttons on my controller essentially stop responding, and then he pauses the game and I have no way to resume. I try and select resume game, but it's as if the controller is completely unresponsive. I know it's not the controller because if I click the Xbox symbol, it brings up the new menus and I can scroll through those menus. This is the second time this has happened to me - any thoughts?
