I almost did the same. I was told that the ESPN NFL 2K5 was moved up a week so it's gonna be here next Monday. I'm just gonna wait for that for now since I already have it preordered. I'll go nuts on NCAA as soon as the first $39.99 sale hits the papers.

I reserved my copy on Saturday, I think, at Gamestop. They told me that they were planning to have the copies in the store by about 8:30 or so Monday night and that they'd call all the people that preordered and we could come pick them up Monday night. Well, there apparently was a snafu somewhere since the copies didn't get there until about 1:45am Tuesday, according to the manager that opened the store Tuesday morning. I was waiting outside the store at 8:50 when the manager got there to open the store an hour early for people to come and pick the game up. Apparently, the snafu was bigger than I thought it was since no store in South Carolina had any Gamecube versions at all. So I left the store planning to call back about 11 or so when UPS got there with the Gamecube copies. I got back to the house and about 10:15, the guy from Gamestop called saying that my copy was in. When I got there, he told me that right after I left, Fedex dropped off four (yes, four) copies of the game for Gamecube. So as of about noon yesterday, all they had was about 30 copies for all three systems total. Someone messed up somewhere....

I jump on the bandwagon that the passing game sucks, I spent pretty much all night playing it.....
The passing system is screwy, it is almost like you have a better chance making 30+ yard passes than you do making 5-15.....It's horrible, I haven't given up yet but, I don't know how long I will actually sit down and play this game....thats how bad it is (and I love playing NCAA football).

Not upset because I'm getting my tail whipped, I'm kicking the crap outta the teams but, the stats are all screwed up....48-0 at the half against a team and my passer is 5-25....crap like that.....

I almost long for the return of Sega NCAA football it was better than this game....

Maybe given a little time it will improve....I dunno

Why is it so choppy on XBOX? When there is alot of action on the screen, it slows down a lot.

Passing is just weird, I would rather see the quarterback misfire than receivers drop 10 passes a game.

I am starting to get better at the running game, maybe that will make passing easier.

Anyone have accurate sliders?

In order to complete passes, you have to really be hitting your composed/good players at a high percentage. You also have to remember to throw with your feet set if possible. If you're running and you throw, this year it's a little different in that you won't throw as good of a pass, and the receive will probably not catch it.

The only slowdown I noticed was when running the ball. Hell, I thought it was an intentional change to make running a little easier.

I notice it during and after tackles. Also, sometimes it takes a few seconds to load the "celebration" after a tackle, that is annoying too. But for total immersion, NCAA scores top marks. I love the crowd. I wish Madden would play more on momentum.

Has anyone ever purchased the Rosters off someone on EBAY?

I've had some problems passing as well, and I'm using a pretty good team for passing. It's definitely not my quarterback for sure, arguably one of the best in college ball. Some solid receivers, too, so it's not like I'm throwing to a bunch of slackers or walk-ons. I sat and ran play after play in practice mode last night and I feel a little better passing the ball now but still nowhere near as solid as I was in NCAA 2004 where I'd pass for 600 or 700 yards and 10 TDs. I guess it's going to take some getting used to.

I experienced my second game where home field advantage made a big difference. First game was in Tallahassee where they came back to score 15 points in a matter of minutes and get within 7. Was playing in Miami last night and they got up 14-7 on a bogus 4th and long TD pass at the end of the first half. I mounted a charge at the end of the game but fell short because of the crowd getting into it. Good stuff. Sucks that I dropped the game but it was definitely home field advantage at play and it was really cool.

No but anyone want to split it?

DON'T GO THROUGH eBay!! www.ps2rosters.com has FREE rosters for xbox and ps2. or if you can't download, you send him a memory card and he will put the roster on your card for free. He asks for a $4 donation, but it isn't necessary. I did it last year and it was the best. puts the correct freshman on your team and the correct depth charts and stats. this guy is good and has such clients who help fund him as Allen Iverson and Mike Vick.

He doesn't have 2005 ready yet, but its worth the wait. Not only are 99.9% of the teams 100% correct, the fact that he adds the correct freshman and depth charts is off the heezy.

I say donate the guy the $4. thats what I did last year and then I could either copy the file to my friends ps2s or I could sell them the file off my memory card.

The game is pretty nice. I can pick up on some slightly better graphics in all areas. I have a few gripes though ... and one is just like the OP.

1. They STILL DROP wide open catch attempts, which is just ridiculous. It would be okay if it happened 1 time, but I was playing with my friend and it happened to him 3 straight plays in a row!

2. I noticed quite a bit of slowdown when we ran up the gut, or when a kickoff when we ran up the middle and alot of clutter on screen. However, i'm not sure if this is slowdown due to drop in framerate, or just an 'effect' that EA added. Just I noticed somethin slowing down when running.

Other than that, its pretty nice

EDIT: Oh yea, I have it on xbox

Doh, just had my first major hiccup with the game. I've heard of slowdown on the Xbox but I just had it freeze on my Gamecube with about 20 seconds left in the first half. Anyone else had the game lock up?

I'm glad to hear i'm not crazy, i was hoping i wasn't the only one who thought the passing game was junk. I've played some more games in my dynasty, and i've found that i think one of two things on most plays. Either 1) Wow, that was nice (either a gameplay fix or an addition to the game) or 2) That was really stupid. It gets old watching all those dropped passes. I even had one where the tight end was the only guy in the right half of the end zone, threw him a rainbow, and it bounced right off his hands. Actually, when i watched the replay, it bounced off an invisable wall 6 inches in front of his hands. I've started thinking about going back and just playing 2004 b/c i'm getting to the point where, b/c of the passing game, i have the difficulty set to where i average about 10 yards a carry and drop open passes every so often or to the point where i barely can manage a first down. Not what i consider fun.

As far as the slowdown on xbox, i thought this was on purpose to have you pick your holes and get the best running lane. However, it sounds like it might be actual slowdown, which makes no sense. What did they do to the game to make this happen, as it wasn't a problem in 04, and does this only happen on xbox? Sigh, had high hopes for NCAA 2005...

I was reading up on the slowdown issues on another forum, and some suggested that turning off home field advantage fixed the slowdown ( i didn't say this was a GOOD fix.....). Others said just turning off the camera shake, and someone else said turning down the audio sliders help quite a bit. Well, i didn't want to turn off HFA, so i tried turning off the camera shake. This didn't seem to help much. So i started over, this time i put the audio sliders down, to approx. 1/4 up, and oddly enough, this seems to help. Still testing various settings, anybody else willing to test some things, please post results in this thread.

As for the WR catching, turning up the slider for catching does help, it also seems to up your interceptions. While there is a seperate slider for interceptions, this doesn't seem to matter. Once i turned up catching, i had 3 interceptions in the 1st quarter. I like getting interceptions, but i'm looking for a realistic game.

I finally bought the game... Here are my impressions :

1) The game should have had an option to turn off the included new feature of player violations.

2) At some point the designers need to take the fans of smaller schools into account. Keep in mind that where football money is concerned the major conferences do have the largest stake in the pot. However, there are a lot more people at schools in non-major conferences than there are at schools in major conferences (when taken as a whole). Liven the Dynasty Mode up by allowing a team to be recruited to bigger conferences once it reaches a certain level. Why should a team that wins 5 national championships in a row be forced to remain in the Sun Belt conference for instance?

3) The XBOX slow down doesn't really bother me but the fact of the matter is that it shouldn't have been released in a bugged state.

4) Receivers shouldn't require my assistance to catch the ball when they are wide open. If I throw a pass to a guy who is more likely to be interfered with by the mascot than the DB and he has 99 catching then by God he should catch that ball whether I take control or not.

5) It is virtually impossible to be recognized as a good team if you start a dynasty mode as a 1 star prestige school. I front loaded my beginning of season open dates with good games against Auburn and Florida, won handily, including a win at the #1 hardest place (Swamp), and my team was still ranked below 100. Interestingly enough, I got more of a rankings jump by winning the next game against the Akron Zips!

6) I don't understand the average attendance factor on the coach's report card. At the beginning of the season the average attendance was at 14,000ish. I then beat Auburn at home, Florida at Florida, and Akron on the road, and my average attendance was at 10,000. I don't know that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, but I feel like if you're going to put something in the game then at least make it mean something.

7) The matchup stick is awesome.

I'll add to this list as I discover new cool/uncool features with the game.

Stopped in EB today, talked to the guys working about the problems with the game. They said they had over 40 copies of the PS2 version returned b/c the game froze at the coin toss. They also said some PS2 owners said they experience the slowdown also. In fact, from the stories they heard, the PS2 version seemed to happen randomly, in various modes, where as the xbox version seemed to be mostly in dynasty mode. They said they called EA and they said there will be no recall or new discs because "there is no problem with the game." Apparently someone brought their xbox into the store and they tried 5 copies of the game, all expierenced the slowdown. But the guy brought a friend's copy of the game with him, put that one in and there was no problems.
