LSU paid Troy over $900K to be the punching bag for the homecoming and look like the bag pushed back and won. New OC, same pathetic offense. Les Miles is laughing his butt off right now.

That's at least 5 times so far this season that a high profile, power conference team hired a sacrificial lamb to show up and get stomped for a homecoming or home opener and instead got beat by their intended victim. UNLV paid Howard over $600K and lost, Nebraska paid NIU over $800k and lost, Rutgers paid Eastern Michigan over $850K and lost and Syracuse spent over $950k to smack Middle Tennessee State and got smacked themselves.

Neither school ever loses a tailgate. I'm sure all of the players and fans have figured out a way to console themselves...

At least Ole Miss has an excuse, that's a conference game that they have to play. LSU spent almost a million dollars for the sole purpose of getting a hand-selected patsy to show up and lose so that LSU could get an easy win and pad their record. That's a lot different than losing to an in-conference powerhouse like Alabama.

You didn't mention Baylor, but I don't know how much Liberty got, if anything. EMU gave Kentucky all they wanted for four quarters. If they didn't turn over that punt mid way in the third, it could've had a different result.

But these things happen every year though. WMU took down two Big 10 schools last year, and gave USC hell this year. CMU has a history of doing this, last year they took out Ok. State (with help from the refs..but still), and beat Kansas this year. Iowa lost to ND State last year. I'm sure there's other examples, just from last year alone.

I guess I don't see it as that big a deal. Northern Illinois, Toledo, WMU, CMU, and Ohio can all be dangerous. EMU is trending way up also. Troy is good, damn near beat Clemson last year. They are not "patsy's", they are actually decent football programs.

Besides, Rutgers, UNLV (not even in a power conf, mountain west I believe), and Syracuse don't really count as "high profile". LSU yes, but Nebraska has been an above average team at best the last few years.

Hope ackmed is ok. Tennessee got freakin' murdered. At least this loss should end the Butch Jones era, so that's something I guess.

#1. You cannot give that when the QB is out of the pocket.
#2. The QB handed the ball off, got it back, at that point. THERE CAN BE NO INTENTIONAL GROUNDING.

I dropped in to check this thread after last weekend, but couldnt help wondering why you haven't been called out on these - both of these points are incorrect. [7-3-2-h]

The announcers stated it, with their ref who helps them with calls. If they were wrong, and I repeated something that was wrong, so be it. Oh well, they're almost always correct. Feel free to prove the call was a good call, with video and evidence.

As far as this week, plenty of good games. Glad to see so many teams lose, such as Florida. Their luck and ref calls finally stopped. Few weeks ago, Kelly from UT scores a rushing TD very late, for the what looks to be game winning TD. Does a gator chomp to the crowd, no player in sight. Gets a penalty, which greatly helps FL's last second touchdown. Florida does it, same field, same end zone, different game. Gator chomp to the crowd, no penalty. Thats bullshit. So happy to see FL lose, and good to see LSU win again.

And Michigan, weather was ridiculous. 5 turnovers, hard to win that way. Still, they had a chance as I think Michigan St only had two 3rd down conversions, and really didnt do much either. Michigan's QB acted like a bitch fake falling on the side line to get a penalty, glad he lost.

Oklahoma, another team I was glad to see lose. Underdogs did well this week. So much upheaval in the rankings, will be interesting to see what happens. Still, teams with one loss are not out of it. Bama played well too, just didn't dominate everything like usual. Stat came up that they ad 0 turnovers and 20 take aways this year early in the game. Hadn't had a turnover in I think 39 quarters of play, thats ridiculous. Then immediately turned the ball over. Bama and Georgia will be a good game it looks like.

I have said this a few weeks ago, Direct TV is doing one game a week in 4K. I cannot understate how amazing this looks. It is such an upgrade, everything looks better. There are no commercials either., I assume because they aren't 4K and the channel is 100% 4K. So it just pans out to the field inbetween play, which I actually like. I tried to take a few shots, but they don't do it justice. Its such an upgrade, I am looking forward to mainstream 4K sports. Baseball has it too sometimes, UFC as well. Everything about it looks better, close ups, far shots, everything.

It was a great football weekend!

I already did prove it wrong with a rulebook quote (Rule 7, Section 3, Article 2, Part H). For better reference, heres the text:

The forward passer, to conserve yardage, throws the ball forward into an area where there is no eligible Team A receiver (A.R. 7-3-2:I) [Exception: If the forward passer is or has been outside the tackle box, he may throw the ball so that it crosses or lands beyond the neutral zone or neutral zone extended (Rule 2-19-3) or would have crossed the neutral zone if not touched by Team B. (A.R. 7-3-2:VIII-X) This applies only to the player who controls the snap or the resulting backward pass and does not relinquish possession to another player before throwing the forward pass.

So the quarterback gets an exception from grounding outside the tackle box only if he took the snap directly and retained possession. From a practical perspective, this prevents a runner from throwing the ball away outside the tackle box on a well-defended sweep play to preserve yardage.

Generally speaking, TV announcers don't know shit about the rules.

LSU barely won against Florida. The game could have gone to Florida several times when LSU QB threw the ball almost right onto the hands of the defenders from Florida and it could have been a pick 6 easily several times.

Good luck LSU. Auburn is up next and then of course, the big juggernaut Bama is up in a few weeks.

I always wondered why I saw trick plays thrown into double coverage so often. And why runners who were about to take a loss never just flicked the ball out of bounds. Thanks!

And yet you still don't prove anything. Again, feel free to post with video prove your stance. Rules alone do not mean anything. I can tell you that you *really* want to be right, so go for it. Win the battle!!! /s

Generally speaking, announcers do know a lot about the game/rules. More than most, you and I included. Many are ex players, or announcers who have been for years. Maybe they were wrong, guess we'll see. Waiting on pins and needles over here.

That's some serious stuff going down for a Friday night when few are watching football. A lot of people are going to tuns on games tomorrow and be "whoa!".

what are you guys talking about? UNC getting off with a wrist slap for instituting 3+ decades of the most egregious academic fraud in NCAA history? Fucking UNC. cocksuckers.

...but other than that, what else happened? lol

How about them LSU Tigers? Downed by 20 points at home in the first half but fought back and won by 2. Two SEC wins in a row. Bama Tide is coming up soon in a few weeks.

Lots of upsets this week, holy shit. Maybe two more, Boise gonna take down San Diego State, and maybe Arizona State can hold on and take out Washington. Like 6 or 7 ranked teams losing or something like that.

Michigan did it's best to join the carnage. Though they did look alot better this week. At least we didn't turn the ball over, and the oline looked better. Still gonna get murdered next week though.

Quite a weekend for college football, surprised no one is talking about it?

Michigan may have found a quarter back, but pretty pissed that we are not ranked again. I know they are not great, but they should be better than some of those 20-25 ranked teams. Losing two spots for beating Indiana a few weeks ago was b.s. I guess we will see on Tuesday.
