Wow, Coach K throws Oregon star Dillon Brooks under the bus! Brooks hit a meaningless 30' 3pt shot with a few seconds left,
from his coaches orders, and Coach K reprimanded him during the handshakes...then lies saying he didn't!
Initial Story:
Oregon's Dillon Brooks said Krzyzewski told him that he's "too good of a player to be showing off at the end," after the sophomore hit a 3-pointer near half court when the Ducks had an 11-point lead with 10 seconds to play. Brooks said he told Duke's coach that he was right.
Coach K responds:
"I didn't say that," Krzyzewski said. "You can say whatever you want. Dillon Brooks is a hell of a player. I said, 'You're a terrific player.' And you can take whatever he said and then go with it, all right?"
However CBS recorded the exchange:
CBS video recording conversation, supporting Brooks' account
What a classless thing to do, especially coming from someone of his stature, to criticize a young kid who just kicked Duke's ass, and then lies about it. As for Brooks, I can't find the full video of the shot, but it clearly shows the Oregon coach gesturing demonstratively from the sidelines to shoot the ball before the shot clock runs out.
