Bullshit.
From my personal experience, when Auburn is playing someone else, most 'Bama people passively root for Auburn.
National headlines prove otherwise when it comes to Auburn people rooting for 'Bama.
Bullshit.
Huh? You said to play in a NCG you have to at least play in your conference championship game. Bama didnt do that last year. Under your scenario Bama wouldnt have been national champions last year due to be ineligible to play for it.

When ND is good, people watch their games hoping they will lose. When they are bad, people watch their games enjoying them lose.
This is definitely me basically.... more so this year because I really felt they didn't belong in the NCG. Every week I hoped they would lose. I really enjoyed watching the game last night hehe.
I didn't say all teams need to win their conference. Just shitty independent teams with terrible schedules. Like ND, which was embarrassed last night. They should at least win a conference championship game before given a shot at a national championship, not that winning a big 10 championship means much about the quality of a football team...
What's scary is how close we came to a NCG that featured KSU and ND, two teams that were exposed in their bowl games. An eight team playoff can't arrive soon enough.
The best out of conference opponent Bama had was Michigan, who Notre Dame also played and beat. If you look at schedules, Bama played and beat 3 "good" teams, Michigan, LSU, Georgia. They lost to Texas A&M. Notre Dame played and beat 3 "good" teams also, Michigan, Stanford, Oklahoma. So it's not like Notre Dame had some cupcake schedule, they actually played several good opponents. And it's not like Bama dominated most of it's tough opponents, they beat LSU and UGA by 4 each and both those games could have gone either way. Before last night the only time this season that Notre Dame looked bad was the Pitt game, the rest of the time they looked like a National Championship team. Unfortunately for ND the same team that played Pitt is who showed up last night.
So long as ND is independent though they'll have trouble scheduling multiple tough opponents, most teams don't want too tough of an out of conference schedule. The SEC is notorious for their teams having very weak out of conference schedules, so I doubt any would schedule ND in the next few years.

ND has been shit for 2 decades. They'll continue to be shit and will never win another championship. Eventually, that will lose them their ridiculous contract.
Every year for the past 7 years, a dominant sec made it through their schedule to win the NCG. 'Bama humiliated ND. This is because the defensive play outstrips all other conferences. This forces SEC offenses to adapt with great running games first, specifically with O-Line play. A lot of programs fall apart under the pressure of the schedule and having one part missing. At least one team is good enough to make it out healthy and hitting on all cylinders, and that team has won the last 7 BCS titles.
And ND only struggled against Pitt? LOL
They barely beat BYU 17-14, Purdue 20-17, Michigan 13-6, USC 22-13, and Stanford 20-13 in OT. Stanford is the only good team of that bunch.
Alabama's LSU game as at LSU and its Georgia game was held in Atlanta, Georgia.
