That throwing the red flag when it was already being reviewed stops any review is the stupidest penalty out there. I've seen coaches throw red flags when the play can't be reviewed and they just pick up the flag and explain it to the coach, but somehow doing it when it is already being reviewed is some sort of actionable offense? Why? How would doing so give someone an advantage or cause any harm to the game? It wouldn't even delay things because it's already being reviewed. Usually rules have some basis in reason. I don't see this.

Shouldn't the coach of the Texans just thrown the flag instead?

Stupid rule. BUT he fucked up and couldn't keep his temper. he said post interview he knew the rule he was just pissed and threw it.

This rule needs to be changed though.

I honestly didn't think it was that big of an deal and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt... BUT after going back and watching his bullshit of the past, I believe a suspension is in order.

The sad thing is, like someone mentioned (or was it an article?)... he seems like a genuine person in interviews and in person, but on the field he loses his cool too often and needs to be held accountable

Donkey Kong Seems articulate in interviews, but inevitably he goes apeshit and full retard on the field. Suspend his ass and let's see if the ignoramus learns anything.

Hit the dirty players where it hurts the most. Their pockets.

Suspense without pay a few games will bring back common sense. Whole season if need be.
He was suspended previously for 2 games I think but has deserved more than that on other shit he's done. That means he isn't in ban territory yet, which is why going soft on him earlier will hurt the league now. I expect a several game suspension, hopefully for the rest of the seasons+. That means the next time he could be banned, of course that leaves room for a next time...

It's a terrible rule, happened last week or the week before. I see no reason why throwing a challenge flag on a play that will automatically be challenged is even a penalty, but it is. The coach should know better, it was basically a hot head moment and the coach lost the game for his team because of it. I'm sure there's a good reason I can't think of why it's a penalty in the first place, but to make a play that was reviewable not reviewable is simply retarded.

Does anyone know why it's even a penalty?

I'd be money that rule isn't in the league next year. Hell, I'd support certain rule changes mid-season when it's obvious there was a REALLY bad rule put into place to begin with.

Convicted on reputation. Nothing in that play was dirty. Suh's made dirty plays, but that wasn't even close.

Now, I'm getting out of here before the flames start.

Was it a great game?

Absolutely.

Throwing a flag on a play that is already under review is a penalty?

Wait, what? Wasn't the whole purpose of reviews to get the calls right in the first place? As was stated, assess a penalty on the ensuing kickoff. Charge them a timeout. Whatever.

Imagine if this was the Superbowl. I don't want bullshit like that deciding an important football game.

Was Suh's play dirty? Possibly. Rose colored glasses make a person just as likely to see something that was there, as it is to make them see something that isn't. I don't see any change in his motion during the nut shot.

Wow he has pretty damn good aim for someone who was being pulled down to the ground face first looking at the turf. He could teach Anderson Silva a thing or two about accuracy with leg strikes thrown from the prone position...

nobody is saying he aimed for the nuts. he threw his legs out to try to kick him. there is a difference. Suh has a reputation on silly shit like this

That second "jab" with his leg looks like it was done on purpose, yea. The initial "flip" wasn't within Suh's control though.

Good thing that the definition of a dirty play is not a "direct" hit.

I cannot comprehend the second sentence of your post, but this was the 2nd NFL game that I have watched this season. My level of caring about the NFL and the Lions is lukewarm at best.

Once I heard about this rule (during the Falcons game I think) that's where my mind immediately went. If I'm the coach of a team that scored on a questionable play I throw the challenge flag and incur the 15 yard penalty on purpose to halt the booth review.

I really dislike Suh for being a dirty player but I can't say with 100% certainty that hit was intentional.

How was it "obviously intentional? He fell over an offensive linemen and wasn't even looking at the QB when his foot hit the ball(s).
When being pulled down, or falling to the ground your leg doesn't go flying up. OK so -maybe- it rotated like that, fine. I doubt it, but it's withing the realm of possibility. I mean I can understand it rotating up a little but his leg goes higher than mid waist at that point, it looks extremely unnatural.

Then, there's a definite kick motion towards Schaub on the way down. He looked directly at him as he was falling, so he knew damn well where he was even though when the kicking motion happened he was looking down. It's a far cry from avoiding contact which would have been simple and of course is the rule since he threw the ball well before contact happened.

Of course that's my judgement, I see it as obviously intentional, you may not.

Given his history, I'd rather see players like this out of the league without considering this offense. He's a dirty player and it's only a matter of time before he causes serious or permanent injury.

I just don't get why someone who has the ability, talent, and physical prowess like Suh resorts to such obviously dirty play.

Some people are just trash, and Suh is a pretty good example of that.

e: I'm not a fan of Stafford, either.

Reports: Lions' Ndamukong Suh faces suspension for kicking Matt Schaub

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh could be facing his second suspension in as many years for his latest Thanksgiving transgression.

NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson told ESPN that the league will review Suh’s kick to the groin area of quarterback Matt Schaub in Thursday’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Houston Texans and that “everything is on the table” when it comes to potential punishment.

“It didn’t look good,” Anderson told ESPN.
