ndiswrapper help (Dynex DX-BUSB)

After I successfully install ndiswrapper, install the windows drivers, and check to see that both are present (they are), the next step in the ndiswrapper installation is "modprobe ndiswrapper". At this step I always get a "segmentation fault" and the card does not work correctly (wan0 or whatever doesn't exist).

I can see my wireless USB card in the KDE Info Center as a USB 801.11b/g USBeless Broadcom adapter, but no wireless device shows up on iwconfig.

[I have a Dell Optiplex 320 with a Dynex DX-BUSB usb wireless device, and I'm running the latest version of Slax. Before boot I run both pci=nomsi and acpi=off to get it running.]

My first guess would be that a Linux driver is claiming the device (possibly incorrectly or maybe you just need formware for it) and ndiswrapper is trying to claim it a second time and crashing.

So do you think I should modprobe before even inserting the adapter? I'll try doing so now

EDIT:

Well, that didn't give me a segmentation fault but it didn't do anything at all. Still no wan0 or whatever in iwconfig. Could I need to use a different windows driver? Because I have only found one that works in windows so far...

First I think should find out if there is a Linux driver and make that work, ndiswrapper should be considered a list resort.

What does dmesg say when you plugin the card without doing anything with ndiswrapper?

well it says quite a lot and I tried scanning it for a while but I couldn't find anything. I can't seem to save a text file to my other hard drive partition (windows one) so I'm having trouble trying to copy paste it all. From the windows partition when I try looking at the saved text file with the dmesg it's all gibberish.

EDIT:

If it helps, lsusb shows the device as "Bus 001 Device 005: ID 4317:0720"

And dynex has absolutely no linux support, and after searching I couldn't find a linux driver for my particular adapter.
