I have the TRV17 the older one., replaced by the TRV27.
This Camcorder takes awesome movies, has a large LCD and is very easy to use. I bought the cordless I- link laser Link receiver to play back movies.
The Lux is measured in candle light form and the Hot shoe allows you to hook up a better light source or a microphone that will allow you to hear things as the zoom moves closer the mic also does.
maximum PC gave the TRV17 a score of 9 which was tops in the models they tested.
The Carl Zeiss lens is spectacular.
Fast transfers on the 1394 port and overall a pretty decent camcorder. I like the bigger 3.5 LCD as opposed to the 2.5 LCD.
If you want good night photos you'll need to buy one of the many different light kits as they connect to the hot shoe.
I paid $1299.00 when it first came out., but I wanted something that would last.
