It should make for a nice nap. Lots of great D vs ok offenses will make for a really slow game.

Thr difference between the Pats and the teams the Panthers had to beat in the Playoffs to advance to the SB is that the Pats use the short pass like a running game. The Defensive Line of the Panthers won't have enough time to get to Brady because he takes such short drops and unloads the ball so quickly. The main problem with the Pat Offense was their play in the Red Zone. Against the Panthers it shouldn't be so much a worry because the Panthers aren't that explosive of an offense themselves and the Pat's D is the best!

Pats learn very well from problems that they have internally in previous games. They also prepare well for an opponent in shutting down the offense weapons. Look how well the Colts did the previous two games and what the Pats did to Manning and look what happened to McNair.

They ran into Red Zone problems this time, they will correct the problem in time for Houston.

The Pats quick outs to the sidelines have stumped everybody. The good quality teams have known about it for weeks and still can not do anything about it.

5 wide receivers and the Pat line holds. The opponents have not anything to counter that.

You guys ever notice the pattern that every other super bowl has been a good game (as in close)? If it continues, this year should be a close game.

Last year: raiders were trounced, bad game.

Year before, NE wins with a clutch FG, good game.

Year before giants get turned to proverbial paste by the Ravens, bad game

Year before, Titans almost beat the rams but lost on the famous 1-yard play.

going further back, i forget which games were which, but my brain tells me the pattern has held true maybe even longer.

5 turnovers, 6 dropped passes, 5 sacks, were getting manhandled in the secondary with no help from refs, and the panthers still only won by 11

the panthers suck. the eagles just sucked more. they'll get destroyed in the SB

Yep, we manhandled your entire team. You guys were completely dominated the whole time. How can the panthers suck considering how far they have gotten? You can't come up with a good answer.

Did you watch the game? Do you understand the game? 3 of those interceptions were caused by blown routes by sh*tty receivers who decided not to show up, they basically fell into your hands. Also the dropped passes are not indicative of being dominated. It just further shows that we need a Terrell Owens. Manhandled... sure...

I'm not thrilled about the NE/CAR matchup (mainly b/c my team, the Vikings, chose to pull the biggest choke job EVER aren't in it). However to say that just b/c teams have good Defense and limited Offense that it is going to be boring is just plain ignorant. More often than not, teams with good Defenses keep the game close and quite exciting at the end. There is nothing wrong with a 17-14 game, you just need to learn to appreciate the schemes and the complexity of what is going on. It is sort of a chess match b/t coaches, coordinators, and players. I like to see offense as well but this should be a decent game and that's all I ask for. I think I'll ahve to say.....GO PATHERS b/c I'm an NFC guy and I like the "rags-to-riches" or "group of castoffs" story for Carolina.

Vikes are an exciting team to watch...they started out so strong, but once again, they choked

I definately would've liked to see them in the playoffs instead of Pack

Just out of curiosity: is there anyone here who's not a Panthers fan that is actually looking forward to seeing this team play in the SB? I'm not trying to start anything here, and I certainly am not trying to piss off any Panthers fans (congrats on your team making it to the SB!), I just don't see how anyone other than Panthers or Pats fans could be interested in this SB... I really don't think I could watch the NFL ever again if the Panthers win, especially if it's a sh!tty game.
Anyway, congrats to the fans of both teams and I wish both teams the best of luck. Here's to a better game than what I'm expecting!

I'm not a Panthers fan but I will watch the game and am looking foward to it. See my previous post for a better explanation but whether people will admit to it or not, Carolina is a great team and plays as a team not as egotistical individuals (eg Terrell Owens). The have a couple of strong RB and a great O-line to protect the QB and get a push for the run game. Their QB isn't flashy but can deliver the ball where it needs to go and is relatively safe with it. The have a large possestion WR and a speedy WR to go deep. On D they have probably the best front 4 in all of football, and many times the game is won or lost on the line. Anyway to answer your question I would have seen some other teams in the Superbowl but I don't think you can automatically discount the Panthers and say it will be a blowout or boring. Besides in terms of pure entertainment the Panthers have a scoring different an average of 1.3 points per game and the Patriots were at 6.9. That tells me that Carolina plays in some close (therefore relative exciting) games.

Panthers QB is unpredictable at best...

He even said so himself in an interview when asked: In tight situations, would you get rid of the ball or go for it? He said he would go for it. I hope he's more careful, or PATs D will chew him up big time. I would say if the Panthers want to have a chance, they should employ a solid running game with S. Davis and D. Foster. This will prove to be a more useful Offensive tactic and from time to time, mix it up a little with S. Smith to confuse Pats D.

On the other hand, T. Brady has already proven himself to be a geat QB this year. Yes, he does have the short pass down to a science, however, I think the Panthers pass rush D is fast enough to disorient him enough to force him to make mistakes.

It'll be exciting to think about it, but I think it will be boring to watch. I could be wrong though, and this could turn out to be a very exciting SB. Which I'm sure, none of us will mind

Delhomme has proved himself too, you know that deep down inside.

Pats = 2
Cats = 0

There will be so many change of possessions that you will see your favorite SB commercials numerous times.

Defence wins championships, the Colts don't have one, the Pats do. The Patriots have won 14 straight and are the #1 ranked team in the NFL, the most complete team. On those facts they should win, however I wouldn't be suprised to see Carolina win it all.

The Panthers get no respect on here, but a good defence combined with a ball control offence makes a worthy contender. Besides look at the rest of the NFC ... Philly no show in the big game yet again, Rams inconsistent, etc.

crazy......

I am so sick of hearing this. They went 11-5 this year. They had the 30th ranked strength of schedule (Rams 31, Chiefs 32). And they may boast how they are 7-0 in games decided by 3 points or less, but as we all know close games can go both ways. Just like their 1-15 season they were 0-6 in games decided by 3 points or less. It's really getting old.

Along with the 1 yard in the Week 13 game at Indy was the difference between Indy playing at NE and vice versa. Please. That would change the seeding and the games. You can't say they'd turn out that way to set up the same AFC championship.

And while I'm at it, enough of "Daylight come and you gotta Delhomme!".

You are right, and should add that the Ravens in 2000 (all D, no O) blew out the Giants. So defensive teams can score a lot. People are assuming it will be 3 and out and punt all day. But even if the O canm barely move, all you need are turnovers. And if he D is so good, there should be some.

I agree with the strength of schedule point

Got this from Yahoo, some guy just talking about the Superbowl,

Winning two Super Bowls in three years in this day and age would count as a dynasty.

Personally I think this is absolutly retarded, they didn't even make the playoffs last year, what kind of dynasty are you if you can't even make the playoffs two years in a row, plus the Broncos won it two years in a row and they weren't a dynasty. Any thoughts?

Go Panthers!
You can't be serious if you think this game will be a blowout IMHO.
The Panthers have the best defensive line in football, will slow the run and will pressure Brady as well.
I believe this game can go either way and will be decided by field position - often setup by special teams. A big return by Steve Smith or He Hate Me, and good punting by Sauerbrun.
I hope for a close game not decided by the officials...either way I'll be happy.
