If backup cams become mandated then at some point we could see a system that could mail a ticket to tailgater's.

Tailgating is not getting the attention it should. It is dangerous aggressive and reckless. People die because of it.

If tailgating bothers you why wouldn't you do the quickest and easiest solution, which is to get in the other lane and let them pass?

Brake checking that causes an accident means you could be liable for the cost of their accident on top of higher premiums for all, so thank you for being selfish.

If you can pull over, by all means do so and let the guy move along. The one that gets me riled is when you're in the left lane, passing a long line of slower traffic in the right, going above the speed limit, cars in front of you in the left lane passing above-mentioned cars in the right lane, and some jerk rides your bumper. Where does this idiot think he's gonna go? You're bottled in as much as he is.

The hard break check thing is stupid, for the reasons mentioned, but if the traffic in front of you comes to a screeching halt, that tailgater may very well take you out.

All the above being said, I'll repeat what I've stated before on here. The US should be more like part of Europe in that the left lane should be a passing lane. People who camp in the left lane going below the speed limit should get a ticket.

I agree, but every time I drive in Germany I get tailgated like crazy whenever I am executing a pass. That's sort of the nature of the beast when you have such a discrepancy in speeds, but they don't seem to get all worked up over it.

I've always wanted one of those scrolling LED boards that I could have preprogrammed messages at the push of a button. I have a lot to say when people are too close.

I will agree with you, it is not always feasible to make way for tail gaters. This is another reason i want self driving cars. I can read a book or internet while stuck in traffic and then i will not care how slow i am going.

Agreed. I don't mind the tailgaters who get behind you when you're passing 2 cars doing 60 in a 55, while they wait for you. Personally, in such a situation, I speed up to about 64 - not gonna risk a more than 9 over ticket for the tailgater - then I move over as soon as safely possible.

But, the tailgaters who should be removed from the road are the idiots in very heavy traffic, when one lane is doing 65 in a 65 zone, and the other lane is doing 75 and moving along smoothly - and the tailgater thinks that in the congested traffic, he's entitled to do 85 if he wants - the 100 cars doing 65 should make room for the 100 cars doing 75, so he can have the lane to himself. The world would be a nicer place without such entitled jerks.

All you motherfuckers need to get the fuck out of the passing lane. Forward facing rocket launchers should be standard on every make and model.

Clearly the problem is that Obama hasn't focused enough on domestic traffic terrorists. Speeders need a visit from a drone.

The things I want to say on a digital sign go beyond tailgaters - I have something to say to all the bad drivers. For example, I want a sign on the front, in reverse (so it can be read correctly in a mirror), to tell the ignorant to get out of the left lane.

Hell - just expand that to people sitting in the left lane. Thankfully I moved so I don't see this nearly as much but on my old commute I would pass numerous cars per day on the right because, in 3 lanes of traffic, they pick the left most lane and force car after car to pass them on the right.

Best ways is to mount a sparkplug in the tail pipe and turn off the ignition spark of one cylinder. Then enabler the tailpipe sparkplug to spark and the result is a huge flame coming from the tail pipe.

I think we enable some of this bad behavior in the USA by legally allowing people to pass on the right. If you made it illegal to pass on the right but also enforced slower traffic keeps to the right (with fines) maybe people would learn what the left lane is for. As it is now, you can get some self righteous people hanging out in the left lane saying to themselves "if they want by me they can pass on the right".

We actually have that law here in Virginia and it is not enforced at all. It was passed after a governor was stuck in Northern Virginia traffic and made note of all the assholes camping in the left lane, unfortunately if the cops don't enforce it it is meaningless.

Not sure how it is now, but it used to be that you had to move over ASAP to let them pass.

Yeah, you need to move over as soon as it is safe. You spend a ton of time in the left lane over there however because the trucks are restricted to insanely low speed limits. Most of that time has someone right on your rear bumper it seems.

I'd rather see cops go after the campers than some of the stuff they go off they nail people on. That and blocking intersections. If basic traffic flow measures were enforced, a lot of the frustration could be reduced.

On typical highways/interstates, i have to say i have no problem passing on the right when you have slow campers in the left and middle lane. funny part, there is a section of road i do this on a lot where the right lane is usually empty... I do this probably every time i take that stretch of road. There is nothing wrong with passing on the right. the no passing on the right applies for typical single lane of traffic in one direction. Yes, i've seen people pass on the right in those situations. that's really bad.

I really don't get people's issues with passing on the right on highways/interstates. Check your blind spots and don't tailgate.
