Just sickening people running too many States. This includes Iowa who also opted out of the program.

The program — part of federal assistance made available during the COVID-19 pandemic — would provide pre-loaded EBT cards to families whose children are eligible for free and reduced-price lunches at school. Those families would receive $40 per eligible child per month over the summer. The cards can be used to buy groceries, similar to how SNAP benefits are used.

40 dollars a MONTH per eligible child. 10 dollars a WEEK essentially. Or a 25 cent an hour raise to a full-time working parent/guardian.

Edit: sorry it's only 120 dollars because it's for during the summer when school is out. So a 25 cent raise for a full-time working person for 3 months.

This Governor instead would prefer the following.

Pillen insisted Friday that the state would continue to help food-insecure children through the Summer Food Service Program, which provides meals and snacks at various sites when school is not in session. Providing on-site services also allows providers to spot and report issues like malnutrition, neglect and abuse in children, he said.
Of course they can spot malnutrition if people are not able to afford food.

But by opting to make people drive to a place to receive food assistance the less fortunate will be less able to get the assistance they need.

So they can then cite abuse of the system since people that are more well off will show up to get free food. I have witnessed this in my county. People drive up in their Lexus who I know are well to do since I maintain the ISP service here and get to see where many people live and their homes.

The state of Nebraska would only have to share in half of the administrative costs of the program. Estimate is in the article.

As of Friday, 28 other states and six other U.S. territories and Native American tribes had confirmed their participation, according to the USDA.
Unfortunately the people that would be eligible for this the most will probably still vote against their own self interests, gotta own the libs.

Oh she must be against home schooling then since abusive parents use that as a way to get around their kids being seen by teachers and administrators who are legally required to report suspected or obvious signs of abuse. I'll just go casually Google that to confirm she's against home schooling

Edit "Our organization and grassroots supporters are thrilled that Gov. Reynolds signed into law legislation creating the largest single expansion to the School Tuition Organization tax credit and doubling the Tuition and Textbook Credit for parents while expanding eligibility to include homeschool families."

Wow I'm just so surprised by this turn of events

Care to expand on this?
"School tuition"

I meant the state can run their program and also take the federal funds. $40 per month, per kid doesn't sound like much, but it could mean the difference to so many kids.

Thank you. I just didn't understand and that's why I was asking. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

He couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the sole.
If he shot a bullet into the air, he'd miss.
