NEC 1300A +/- DVD RW $229 Shipped

Spotted this while browsing on PW. Mwave.com has the new NEC 1300A multi-format +/- DVD burner for $219 plus max of $10 shipping. Site says white box w/Roxio software so it's apparently a no frills deal but no rebates involved.

$199 is even better. I am wondering when Lite-On and Sony are going to come off their prices for their multi-format drives. Thanks to NEC it will probably be pretty soon. Newegg has the Lite-On LDW-400 for $315 and the Sony DW-U10A (replaces the DRU-500) for the same price. The Sony and the Lite-On are the same drive anyway.

Costco has the Cendyne multi format drive for 229 on their website. I don't know who makes their drive though.

The Cendyne +/- drive is the NEC 1300A. Thanks to MysticMan1 (Grand Nagus) for veryifying this on another thread. Cendyne confirmed that it is the NEC drive.

Good lord, newegg price on this drive went from $200 (NO ETA) to $220 (ETA: 5/27) to now $250 (ETA 6/13). Sheesh I"m going to buy it from mwave now

Sounds like Costco is the way to go - available, and ships for about $7... and can easily be returned if a problem.

What discs work with this unit - I've heard some complain about brands that don't work.

did anyone cash in on the NEC drive? i've been reading this thread an i feel a little bit antsy about picking this drive up.
