what version of Nero are you guys using with this burner, mine is spitting coasters and getting an "failed to write endtrack" error.

I've only got a copy of Nero Express that came with my Cd burner, it works fine...

v 5.5.10.56

DVD Shrink uses Nero as well and it works fine.

Anyone know if that Benq DVD-writer at ChiefValue.com is OEM or retail? I was considering the NES drive but recently had a nightmarish time with an NEC-MITSUBISHI DiamondTron monitor that I had to return to the manufacturer THREE times in 2 months for repair or cross-shipment so I'm wary of NEC these days.

They just released a new firmware (3.23 or so) for this that does -R/DL writing as well. AWESOME!

I really need to get a DVD burner, just because my cd drive sort of crapped out, my Plextor CD-RW is real slow, and I am way behind the times since I don't even have DVD playback capabilities. A friend burned me a DVD. It wasn't until the next day when I went to install it that I realized I didn't have a DVD-ROM.

And I was set on the 3520 till I read this thread about the BenQ. Is it better than the NEC? Seems like the NEC can do everything anyway, and has a better track record I'd say.

If you have problems with burning media update the drives firmware. Also Update Neros version (its free) on there site 6.6.08.

Between those two even the worse media and cheapest newer dvd writers will work fine 100% time. Oh and dont decide using your system for say gaming or media encoding is a good idea while you burn a disc, then complain it didnt work.

I still have my 2.4x hp dvd200i that I got on sale a few years back for $200 and that was a good deal. I need a new one soon. I've been waiting for them to burn DL at 8x but I don't know if that will happen soon.
