I would say a little over two years and back then I paid $225 each (new) for the 3 I got. Earlier this year, I picked up another 21" Sun Monitor (business storage) that had the same FD Trinitron tube for $175. I really can't over emphasize that it would pay off to do some hunting in the used market. Heck , you'll probably end up w/ new or relatively new monitors!

What kind of Sony's were they? Because there's a huge difference between an E series and say, the GDM-F520. If you could get a GDM-F520 anywhere close to $225 that would be flaming hot. But if you picked up a crappy E series then it's not really a high-end 21" monitor.

And those Sun monitors are cheap because they're not very compatible I thought? Don't they need fixed frequency or something? I think the newer Radeons can handle those though luckily =)

FWIW the last new ebay auction on a new F520 was $950 plus $70 shipping for $1020 total...
And the last USED one with missing cables and who knows what condition went for $510 plus actual shipping(probably around $600?)

So there's still a pretty good market for real HIGH end stuff, and not envision garbage. Having owned both an Envision 17" and the 900NF I know exactly what the difference is. Let's just say that if the 900NF was 20/20 vision the Envision was being legally blind.

I can't find any completed auctions for the 900NF and the only current one is in Canada(and going for 20 canadian bucks right now lol) but on froogle the cheapest new price I can find is $330. I've had a bad experience but I think it was probably the idiot maintainence guy in my building's fault because he came in and worked on the wiring for the plug my surge protector went into and did something weird with the ground wire and I think that spazzed out my 900NF...my other monitor dealt with it OK but the Samsung blew up the moment I plugged it in after getting it repaired...

I think this thread has convinced me to get one of these. It looks like this price may be roughly the new going rate though and there might be better deals. I think I will wait until Amazon actually has it in stock or for a deal elsewhere. Also, can anyone definitely confirm the Mitsubishit DP930SB is the same monitor?

Thanks,
Brian

It shouldn't be too hard to convince you that this

http://www.necmitsubishi.com/products/home/DetailedSpecs.cfm?product_id=249&division=NEC

and

http://www.necmitsubishi.com/products/home/DetailedSpecs.cfm?product_id=250&division=MITSUBISHI

are the exact same, except for the label on the monitor in the pictures.

Edit: and it's $266.xx shipped from Dell right now, better than amazons price anyway.

Yeah - I got 3 GDM-F510s I believe and the Sun Monitor was a GDM-F5010 or something like that. In either case all are great. Two of the Sonys went to friends and the Sun Monitor (had both regular and sun adapter cables so it can handle pretty much anything not just fixed res) went into a system build. So I'm still left w/ my Sony and it hasn't let me down yet.

Dell has very limited quantities of that monitor, which is why it says ships in 5-7 days. I checked, and the sales person made it sound like it was no guarantee they would send it out within a week too.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I ordered the DP930SB from Dell last week and it shipped within 48 hours. Should be here tomorrow.

YMMV.

DP930SP arrived today from Dell. Just wanted to let anyone that may be sitting on the fence know that this monitor is amazing. I literally can find no fault with it, except for the lousy OSD that has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Naviset software more than makes up for it. Image quality is bright, crisp, with zero geometry problems. In fact, it only needed minimal adjustments to bring it to near perfection. Highly recommended.

I got mine yesterday The picture is night and day from my dying KDS FD trinitron. This one, however, is much more picky with refresh rates. I like to run 1024x768 @ 100 or 120 hz. It didn't really look perfect at 120 (not sure they recommend that anyways), so I'm running it at 100hz, but at 100% horizontal stretch the picture doesn't quite reach the edge of the screen, but it's acceptable

Im driving mine with a Radeon 9700 at 1152x864 using a refresh rate of 85 and don't have any issues with screen sizing. I've always found 85 to be more than sufficient for my needs and use it for all resolutions. My understanding (and experience) is that driving the monitor at an unecessarily high refresh rate compromises the clarity of image. Sounds like we're both satisfied customers though, and that's what counts.

Absolutely incredible monitor! I got it for 245 shipped a couple months back from Dell w/ 20% off coupon and free shipping though. But this monitor is well worth the price.

Everyone who said this deal is bad are obviously LCD lovers who care more about form than substance anyway. No way a LCD flat panel can compare to this monitor when it comes to picture quality. Perfect for games etc

I'll take $50 to take a flat-screen 19" off someone's hands.... paid $40 for a 19" from Dell about a year and a half ago... Now, new video card had DVI, so two 19" would be nice when watching DVD's in widescreen....

Share the wealth where you got your 19" monitor.

Isn't that really weird with the gap in the center? I think it would drive me nuts.

Try three, a 19" and two 20" on either side.

How'd you do 3 monitors?? Don't video cards usually have 2 ports max?

Some (matrox parhelia) have three. I have a second ATI PCI card. Total of three DVI and one unused vga connector.

Ok. This is probably opening me up to some newb bashing but oh well. I don?t understand why $280 is a bad deal on a 19" 18" viewable CRT? A lot of people are saying to get a flat panel. In order to get that much viewable image from a flat panel your going to pay at least $450(going by newegg prices). And that flat panel for 450 is not going to have nearly as good of a picture as the $280 NEC FE991SB. So why is this even a debate?

A lot of people here don't see the difference between quantity and quality. I guess it figures though, but why do these stupid people let their ignorance show and let it crap on a deal?
