I had to call them and ask them to send it to me, at first, the customer service rep said I didn't select it. I told them that I did, but it did not show with my order. He then said I might have to order something else for them to send the DVDs to me, and after a little haggling, he agrees to send me the DVDs as it was suppose to happen in the first place.Originally posted by: Cattlegod
I didn't get my free 5 pack DVDRs, did anyone else get jipped? or is that part of the deal gone?

No, it does not include Nero. It is a barebones drive...you literally get the drive and nothing else.

So, please forgive my ignorance but where did you get the software at a reasonable
price to make it viable both pratically and financially?
I don't mind spending the money on a good drive but where do I get the software
and what can I expect to pay for it?
Thanks

As I understand it from the CDRinfo review, changing the book type through other programs simply does not work. So how do I use the book-type utility? Does it override other programs? Do I need to set it before burning and leave the utility open or what?

Do you want to keep both those players in there in addition to the 2510a? It's up to you. You can as long as you have enough IDE connections. You can install the NEC anywhere. You can have it your F drive, for instance. As a matter of fact, you can redesignate the drive assignments in XP. I don't use XP, I use Windows 2000, but I'm sure you can do it in XP. Look it up in your Help, if you care to do that. Or you can just accept your default drive assignments, which is probably fine for you since you have so few drives. Myself, I have 3 hard drives in my machine and each is partitioned into several "drives" (partitions), so I can lose track if I don't reassign. For instance, I had my Liteon CDRW on L: and my Pioneer DVD player on P:.Originally posted by: atwnsw
I would appreciate somebody's installation advice as I bought it from Newgg without instructions.
I have the following current setup:
D Drive = DVD player
E Drive = CDRW player
I want to install the new NEC player in the Dell 2350.
Am I correct that I want to install the new NEC DVDRW Drive in the E Drive?
(I am running windows XP)
Should I change any of my jumper settings on this player?
Your advice is appreciated.
Thanks

P.S. There are no installation instructions and I went to NEC's website which didn't
help at all.
