Mine hasn't arrived yet, but this is supposed to be one of the best dual 8x writers. It's a little slower than some of the others, but the write quality is supposed to be equal to or better than its competition. It also allows you to write some discs faster than their rated speed.

NEC is the original manufacturer. I'm sure we'll eventually see some other brands rebadging these and selling retail packages, but I'm not aware of any yet.

NEC's are the maker, Other drives are usually rebadged NEC's.

I ordered one today, from Newegg. Black bezel. I also purchased the extended warranty for 7 and some change, since this drive is for a friend.
