it's a pretty good deal IMO, I like that the specs seems to slightly exceed the samsung 955df (eg 1600x1200 @ 76hz vs. 68hz -- is this a reasonable assessment, that these are similar quality monitors?). however i have to say I still regret I ddin't get a 955df when they could be had for $150 AR during the holidays ...

i purchased the samsung syncmaster 955df a while back, and my roommate just got the nec accusync 95f recently. when comparing the two, i like the build quality on the samsung a lot better. i run my samsung at 1280x1024 @ 75 hertz. the nec can be run at 85 hertz if that's what u require. also, i've read about some horror stories about dealing with nec csr if u have any problems, tho i can't personally attest to this since my roommate's monitor's been working without a hitch.

for the price, it's really a choice of refresh rates (nec), or overall build quiality of the monitor (samsung).

just my 2 cents.

PLEASE take my advice...I had a Viewsonic 17" (may differer for you, but I'd hate to regret such a deal!) ANYWAY...I had a Viewsonic 17" that went bad about ONEyear after the warranty date I would be on the lookout for a good deal like this one...or the one i linked above.

just opened the box of my 955df from dell. i'm still playing with the settings ,resolution ,etc. and i notice that there's no big difference between this samsung and the nec monitor (w/c my friend owns).
but i love the highlight feature of the samsung 955df. it makes video and pictures so clear. another thing is that it produces crisp and sharp pictures. it has .20mm dot pitch! go try and look at the displays at bestbuy. it's on display beside the viewsonic monitors so you can see what i mean. just looking at the display at BB made me buy this thing. i wish the $40 rebate shouldn't have ended last dec.

if any of you guys own the 955df, did u notice that the "black border at the top" kinda overlaps to the screen?

i own the NEC monitor in question here. got it for 220$ back in nov from dell. i must say im dissapointed in it. It doesnt have the sharpness and clear quality for text that i expected. it cant compare to the trinitron tubes.

I jumped on the 955df deal back in December for $180 shipped a/r. i'm still waiting on the rebate bty. I couldn't be happier with the monitor, the colors are great and the sharpness is adequate. For the price, it's unbeatable.

I had a VERY positive experience with Dell customer service also: the first monitor they sent me was flawed; the picture was cloudy and hazy in some parts of the screen so I called them up. I was on hold for less than a minute and the woman was very helpful. They offered to replace the monitor with another one, or take it back for a full refund. They also picked up the shipping costs and a few days later I had a new monitor. This one is perfect, I couldn't be happier.
