The 20% off coupon is good towards anything. You MUST use it in the Small Business section, however.

This is a true-flat screen monitor, correct?
I think Mitsubishi and NEC have a partnership going, am I right? If so this monitor should use a Diamondtron NF tube?

If it's true flat, it's a better deal than the Samsung 955DF that I ordered from the Gateway Accessory store (it's still backordered). I may just have to cancel the Samsung.

i got the Samsung 955DF at gateway store 2 months ago
at $260 after rebate(free shipping) and i love it!!
my game looks great now! of course i know the 955DF can
not do high resolution at high refresh rate, but i don't
care, the highest i like is 1024*8xx, it is running at 100HZ
enough for me; for those who stick to 1600*1200 this is
not your choice, because it only hits 75Hz at that resolustion.

I've discovered the NEC 95F is a shadow mask monitor, so it's probably similar to the 955DF. Apparently my Samsung shipped last Friday, so I guess I won't worry about returning it (big $$$) and will just wait for the rebate. I think it will be about $262 for me after rebate, so this NEC deal would have been better. It was just a week too late!

Dell also offers the NEC AccuSync 90 for $195 shipped, which is the better of the two monitors?

One of the most popular monitors is the highly rated Samsung 955DF for $222 shipped after $20 rebate.

The next step up is the Samsung 900NF for $333 shipped which is probably one the favorite monitors here.

If you want grandioso get the Dell P991 for $367 shipped (FD Trinitron) flat, bright, crisp, sharp, amazing!
I own the Dell P991 and everyday it amazes me, except for I paid $599

You no longer need a coupon code they have simplified the process but for instructions please read this thread.

i've been using 95F for 7 months now. very excellent except the boom when changing resolution. the nec 90 is not true flat like this 95F.
samsung 955DF is similar but the low refresh rate is a problem. at a low resolution, 955DF seems to be a little more crisper. but i like the high refresh rate at high res of the 95F.

hey all. Rossman - thanks for the PM. I forgot about the thread, and needed a reminder.

Impressions? Alright - what I noticed first was the black level - very, very black. While this may seem like a useless statement, with a black desktop I can't see where the desktop ends and the border of the tube begins.

The factory color setting was a bit warm for me, so I adjusted it down to ~7300K. The OSD is simple and functional, though it lacks some of the more 'advanced' (read bizzare) geometery contros compared to my Nokia. For web surfing, and games, I couldn't be happier. This is my first 'perfectflat' monitor, so the screen took a while to get used to. In fact, it still does - it seems like it is 'bowed inward' at times, however when I hold a ruler up to the screen the desktop follows it perfectly. I think this is more of a result of me switching between a conventional monitor and a perfectflat monitor. I can't comment on CAD use, since I don't do much CAD (except for Xilinx).

The text is crisp and clear with my G400Max, the desktop legible (1600x1200x32bpp 'Large Font'). However, I should point out my Nokia 445xi Pro appears crisper, however it is many times the price so that's not a fair comparison. At times the colors seemed a bit too saturated, but that was nitpicky. When the monitor resync's for games, the geometry seems slightly off as well (from 1600x1200 to 1024x768 for Q3), but these are things I can live with.

Would I buy the monitor again at $241? Absolutely. I'm planning on buying a second at this even better price as we speak. I think this monitor performs a notch above it's marketing target as entry level perfectflat. Also, it has the ability to run high resolutions, much higher than the Samsung, which is a bonus for those of you who make use of the extra desktop real estate

I wish I could compare it to the Accusync 90, but other than the specs at the NEC website I couldn't tell you much. However, as alohaboy stated, the Accusync 90 is not a perfectly flat screen. In actuality, perfectly flat screens have a higher distortion than the more conventional curved tubes, but flat is in style this season (I think we can all thank the Sony Wega for that).

Hopefully this helps you guys - happy hunting.

I ordered the Epson 880 Wednesday night at 7 pm and the site said backorder, selected lowest cost ground shipping, and it arrived Friday at 5 pm. Not too shabby. Texas to Louisiana, not too far to go, though

Dell is pulling a bunch of crap. They showed the G420 out of stock all week and when I finally ordered it, they showed that it shipped right away.

Actually, I missed out on the Dell deal and I had to play a game this morning by ordering the monitor at full price on the web site and then I called 3 separate Dell CS reps, bitched and whined until they gave me the 20% off.

What's funny is that when I called this morning the Dell sales dude would not sell me the G420 over the phone because it showed out of stock and of course, the deal was only good over the phone today. That's why I had to play the games to get it.

I think they were protecting this model and trying to unload their stock (overstock) of G400's and Dell P991's.

Just wanted to say that I think the NEC 95F is crap. I just got mine, and am going to return it. I have only had Trinitrons, and maybe that is why I can tell what crap this thing really is. When I look at the screen, I can see all of the little dots. It is very annoying, and looks like I am seeing everything through a metal window screen. Also, the geometry on mine is screwed beyond repair. The top horizontal of picture slants down to right, and the bottom horizontal of picture slants up to right. Their is no way to correct this. It s okay if you like crap, though.
