ASUS A8N -Deluxe SLI Mobo
Audigy 2 ZS soundcard

Works great, the only problem I have is with the monitor, the 22" NEC FP2141SB. This monitor received rave reviews and it looks incredible for gaming apps. The only problem is that text resolution is blurry and out of focus. Also the blacks are not as crisp. The question I have is: Has anyone experienced a similar problem with this monitor or CRT's in general?

I have tweaked res rates, refresh rates, color, brightness, etc. to no avail...

Thanks.

I have the Diamond Pro 2070SB and the text is a little blurry at 1600X1200 @85Hz. My pixels seem to jump around at times. The jumping pixels may be EMI but I'm pretty sure the blurry text isn't. At lower res the text is crisp. Hope this helps

I have the fe2111sb, it didn't come with a powercord, so I had them send me a new one. In the meantime though I picked up a cheap belkin with like no ferrites and really thin cable. The text was blurry and I had the backdoor effect behind the icons etc. Total garbage.

Maybe try a better vga cable?

This is a slight stray from the actual topic, but it is in-line with the G90fb mentioned above. In last 4 days I have purchased and setup this 19" monitor. Newegg purchase. Graphical images and games are fantastic as many have stated but I seem to be fixated on pixellation in any text (i.e. hyperlinks, word processor, email text, even text in tool bars and popup menus).

Seems like there is spacing inbetween pixels, the fonts do not appear "fluid" and sharp. Have been able to find a few (very few) posted discussions about this "blurry text" or issues with text on this monitor. Have set all the different monitor settings and many different resolution/refresh rates. But cannot get the letters crisp.

Even notice the pixellation in the grey slider bars and toolbars, and in the titlebars of windows xp.

CAN ANYONE AND EVERYONE GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK --- don't know if I should send it back for replacement or alternate model. thanks

Wow. After all this headache with the blurriness, all I had to do was tweak the screws on the side of the monitor for a much better (although not perfect) picture.

Like I said above, I have no bluriness at all and seem to have perfect settings for my viewing (2070SB)... BUT, I haven't installed my DVI-only 6800GT yet. In case the bluriness arrives with the use of the VGA adapter, I want to make sure I understand this correctly:

The focus is the screw on the rear left (looking at the monitor from the front)? There's also one on the right... what does it do? How much turning of the screw was needed to affect the display? Naturally, I don't wanna mess with it atm since it's working perfect, but would like to know just in case it gets worse with the adapter.

I have heard that one of the screws controls focus in the center of the screen and the other one is for the edges, but I think people said that they are both on the left side for the NEC 2141. Are they in different places on the Mitsubishi 2070 version? I recently ordered a 2070 and will probably recieve it sometime this week; I might need to spend some time tweaking it, so it would be good to know what exactly each of the screws does.

I have reference 6800GTs outputting through an adaptor to a FE211SB. At 16X12 85Hz my text looks good?

They are the exact same monitor in pretty much every way except for the nametag.

BTW, I never updated on this thread, but I have since installed my DVI-only 6800GTs (months ago) and no bluriness appeared.

For 2D, make sure SB mode is off, brightness is low (depending on your ambient lighting of course) and contrast is high. If you refresh rate is really high, lower it a tad. If it is low, raise it.

your saying its blurry at 1600x1200 or what? will a NEC FE1250+ look good at 1600x1200?
