I think I still have one more IDE hookup left on my pc.. so I dont need to buy one, right?

Looks like there's also a $5 pricegrabber rebate for the beige model (expires after 50 users sign up). Link My Benq from Black Friday is starting to act funny so I may have to upgrade to the NEC.
There's a review at CDRinfo. Seems like the only negative I see is that it doesn't support changing the bookmark of single layer +R to DVD-rom. It's slower than the new 3530, but the 3520 received a better writing score than its newer brother.

I just jumped on the 3520A BK version! yay, new toys are good.

One of the main reason i wanted to upgrade to this drive is that it has the ablitily to do PI erros scans with modified firmware.

You don't need a modified firmware. The official NEC one (version 3.04 I think?) finally supports this as well.

I just got one of these (MadDog branded with black bezel) at CompUSA for $50 after a $20 rebate. I know the rebate sucks, but you get a two year warranty through MadDog and I have recieved every MadDog rebate I have sent in (3). They are slow with rebates though.

I've had the NEC 2500A and been very pleased with it's burn quality. Purchased one of the black 3520s from NewEgg to get a black one for my black case.....

Great drive.

This is the drive i currently have. It has been an superb drive. 100% satisfied with its preformace. Hope my 3520 will run just as good.

Beige is now most expensive while black is cheapest. This could be due to black sells more then beige.
