Oh please. Do yourself a favor and quit being such a snob.
Although to that effect, i think the 27" is $270 @ costco now...
It was the 27" I got, my mistake (it got here Friday but I didn't answer the door fast and they'll bring it again Monday).
To be fair, his comment islargely why I posted, for feedback picking. Although I am looking for a bit more info to help evaluate the pick than 'ips is better'.
I might prefer a noticably more attractive image on the 23" IPS than the 27" (TN or TFT? I always forget which is which and which is better).
But I see differences in quality between (TFT/TN) as well, and not all IPS have looked great. I don't need a wide viewing angle really.
I mainly like bright, vibrant colors in games, and clear text without screendoor on the web, no ghosting.
A decade ago, I was pretty happy other than the price buying the best CRT I saw, NEC 21" XP than ran over $2000, the colors seemed to look better than other picks.
Today, my list of picks includes the two above (23" IPS in this thread and Sceptre 27"), the Dell U2410 for $500, and the LG W3000H for $1160.
None of the above is 120Hz which is tempting for Nvidia3D WoW (and some of the advertised 120Hz monitors seem to use some phony 120Hz that might not be compatible).
This isn't really a thread for a lengthy discussion of picks, but feedback on this monitor versus the Secptre 27", at least, is appreciated.
The Sceptre is a safe pick for a monitor that's nice and usable and might be a short term until I determine something else like one of the above, or might be longer term, depending.
