Virtually every Nikon body will accept pretty much any Nikon lens; however, dslr (DX) lenses like the 18-55, 18-70, 12-24 will not work completely on a film body due to the smaller circle they project as they won't expose the entire frame at the widest end (a film lens must cover a larger frame size than a digital sensor. Digital/APS-C designed lenses project a smaller circle and would create a vignette if used on a film camera).
I would vote for getting her an N80; it's a great starter film camera that still packs some nice features. If you want to get her absolutely hooked, buy her a used F100 (there is no built-in flash with the F100, but a cheap sb-50dx works wonders when mounted to any of Nikon's film cameras). Check
www.keh.com for used camera bodies. The $300 or so you'd spend on the F100 will be well worth it. Heck, you'd probably find yourself shooting a roll of film once in a while. Virtually every person that has used an F100 has nothing but positive things to say. Pair either camera up with a 50mm f/1.8 lens for $100 new and you'll provide a great start for your daughter.
What lenses do you have to share with her?
