Agreed. A 3rd gen RX7 (FD) can take the WRX on the straight AND at the corners anyday! You can definitely get a used one in good condition for 20g's...

For under 10k you can get a used 1st or 2nd generation AWD Talon or Eclipse and modify it easily blow away a WRX. If you want 4 doors, look for a used Galant VR-4.

if you really want to kick his ass, learn to ride motorcycles and get a sportbike. anything 500cc's or greater should do. the bonus is that you could buy one and a decent used car for a lot less than 20 grand.

also consider early E36 BMW M3's. they run a 14 flat in the 1/4 and will tear that thing up on any sort of road course. the higher mileage(100k miles) 95's and 96's are sub 20k now. also, chicks like bimmers for some odd reason...

Saw a 968(92' with 100k miles) for $10K awhile back in the classified, anyways lots of speed for cheap and should still run door to door with a new WRX.
