Right now I'm using a Dell 2405FPW + a 22" LG L226WTQ as a second display.

The Dell is pretty decent but the LG is very dim and I have to strain my eyes to even look at it for a couple of seconds. Therefore I almost don't get the benefit of having it as a second display because I only put low priority things on that display (e.g. file copies and other long running tasks, just so I can quickly see when they are done, iTunes so I can control what I'm listening to while doing my work on my main screen).

I started working from home a lot more in the past few months and I decided it's time for a display upgrade. At minimum I want to replace the LG with something at least 24". I'm also considering getting two new displays and running the Dell as a 3rd display.

I don't game much anymore, and I don't watch movies on my computer (aside from regular youtube clips and the like). I'm mainly interested in a high quality display that will not hurt my eyes to look at for 14 hours a day. Mainly text, but I do some basic amateur photography too so some semblance of decent color would be appreciated. I don't know anything about color gamut and sRGB though.

I'm interested in displays 24" or higher, high resolution, high quality, great image quality for both text and pictures. If I decide to play a game I'd rather not have problems though I've never personally experienced input lag so I'm still not sure what people are referring to with those types of issues.

PC is a GF 8800 GTX, Q6600, 8GB.

How about this Dell 24" LCD

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-8277

I'm sure it can game too but not quite as good as the TN panels for response/lag time but General Computing and Office work should be awesome. Looks good, has height adjustment, built-in USB, etc.

PS: For your needs you can count out ALL "TN" based panels. I'm running an LG L227WTG and its great for gaming but sometimes strains my eyes. An "IPS" or better LCD is what you are looking for. Viewing Angle specs are a dead give away for "TN" panels. 170/160 Angles are the best any TN panels can claim from my research. Most of the Professional/Workstation Quality Dells are IPS panels with 178/178 viewing angles. That is probably why you still like your Dell and not your "TN" LG LCD.

Heh, you could just tilt your monitor down. That should brighten up your crappy TN panel for the short term.

Didn't notice a difference when doing this. I have spent hours messing with the settings and positioning. It's time to just replace this thing...

On a side note, what's a good use for a crappy display like this, once I replace it?

What's the general consensus on the Dell U2410 vsHP LP2475w? I heard there were dithering issues on the Dell but it seems like a firmware revision has just fixed those problems.

What are the main differences between the two monitors? How do they compare to my 2405FPW, what exactly might I notice going from 2405FPW to either of these displays?

I'm thinking of getting one of these now and then a 27 or 30" later, if decent ones are out (like 27" version of the dell that's coming out, or one of the upcoming NEC 27 or 30").
