need a good, cheap KT133A board (Or should I just get a K7S5A?)

I'm going to be ordering a new T-bird monday to drop into my existing Epox board, and my brother wants to get another KT133A board so that he can use my old Duron. I would get him an Epox like mine, but they don't make them any more, I don't think. The other ones I was looking at over at newegg were the MSI K7T Turbo2 or the Abit KT7A. Possibly the cheaper Soyo as well. Any Recomendations/warnings for any of these?

ECS K7VZA v3 also is still available ... but why buy a board with obsolete technology? If you want to reuse SDRAM, boards like K7S5A with DDR and SDRAM slots give you a newer and faster chipset and a better upgrade path for the same price.

ECS K7VZA is a nice KT133 board indeed. The Epox solution (8KTA3) is a nice one also. However, i agree with Peter that the K7S5A might be a better choice for your needs.

hmm...I'll look into the K7S5A. But weren't lots of people here having problems with them? I remember seeing lots of posts about this board not too long ago.

Go DDR. Let your brother use your hand me downs. Make sure you have a good supply for the ECS board though.

Either ECS boards are harmless, well-performing, usually trouble free boards. The reason why you see so many posts on K7S5A (and if you scroll back half a year, the K7VZA) simply is that they are flying off dealer shelves in HUGE numbers - these two boards are the reason why ECS outnumbered ASUS last year... and more sales means more people screw it up. You'll always see the market share reflected in the share of posts here.

It is good for a KT133A for yadda's request, but for the topic question, and original poster the K7S5A is a better bet.
