i'm purchasing a RUGER LCP as my next and only CCW gun. My S&W sigma .40 is just too big

that lcp will whip your ass come shootin time . I shot one , it's so small it isn't pleasent to shoot. It's too small imo , I use an AMT 380 its a sweety . (backup)

I agree and disagree with both of you. I have an LCP and have put around 1000 rounds through it. It took about 500 rounds over quite a few range visits for me to get to a point where I felt comfortable carrying it.

Honestly, I'm looking to sell it. I am pretty good at 5 yards but anything more than that and accuracy drops off REAL fast. I don't carry a gun just to protect myself, I carry it to protect others (read: mall shootings, etc) and I just don't feel like I can do that with this gun. I'm going to try out a few other guns and most likely go with a subcompact 9mm.

That being said, after getting comfortable with it I really enjoyed shooting it.

Note that this is just my experience, the 4th time I took it to the range one of my buddies shot it and did really well at 7 yards his first time touching a gun that small.

You you can buy the best gun in the world and in a panic miss. I say get something that won't miss, works even when wet, can hear things in the middle of the night a gun can't, protect during the day when no one is home, works without having to load bullets, doesn't need light or electric to see who is the enemy, and won't accidently shoot someone. Do not buy a gun for home defense it is just not as effective as something that makes a lot of noise and packs a nasty bite. Buy your wife a stove like the other guy said.

And for my boy spidey , you gotta keep one in the chamber, lol.

thats great for people who are going to be home or want to train their dog that way, since the thread is for a handgun recommendation and not a dog recommendation, it's irrelevant for this discussion.

besides, what happens when the bad guy shoots the dog or just smacks it with a pipe or hell, the dog doesn't do a damn thing or is friendly to the bad guy? You'd have to get a big dog anyway and train it to be threatening towards strangers, which doesn't help when your friends or family or delivery people come over.

Well obviously your stupid, because he is buying a gun for home defense and dog is a hell of a lot better for home defense than any gun on the planet. Any guard dog instinctively will protect his home no training needed. And a dog will every time bark if he hears someone outside or trying to get in. And he won't get scared either. And a dog won't make this mistake

What annoys me the most is not the buying of a gun or even gun ownership, I lived my whole life in a house with guns because my father was a hunter, its the attitude. Buying a gun so you can be bad assed is a joke. This notion that a gun makes you safer than other clearly more effective methods is just a lie. I have over the years come to respect some of the guys on this board who are gun owners, but they don't portray this cool hand luke attitude. You get a dog, a baseball bat, and call the cops. If where you live is so bad you need a gun, then move.

You've got some issues regarding firearms that you're not expressing here. It shines right through.

Guns don't kill people. People kill people. The guy in that link you posted was being a dumbass. Identify and shoot, not shoot randomly at a shadow.

Also, your is not you're.

You know nothing about the ways of the world. You are a fool, and your post history proves it. Keep your ignorance to yourself, Classy. No one wants to listen to your foolishness. Everyone knows this.

What are you, a "post history teacher"? stfu The ways of the world, is not a gun battle around every corner. Quite often people such as the op make a thread and say "I want home protection" and have chosen to use a gun. And as usual piss ants like you, line up with 500 posts suggesting one gun or another. Never once asking the one golden question have ever considered something else besides a gun? But not tough guys like you and truth be told you would probably faint in a gun battle anyway.

1 Create a self defense/survival plan
2 Train in above plan
3 Train some more
4 get certified in (a. gun/ b. dog/ c. wife) ownership
5 Disregard 4c (not feasible in today’s environment)
6 purchase weapon of choice
7 (repeat 2 & 3 above)
8 repeat 7
9 hope you never have to activate 1

You know nothing of battle. From your many posts, it is clear to me that you are a weakling. Your foolish anger exposes your weakness, Classy. Only the weak would allow postings on an internet forum to emotionally affect them. This shows me, and everyone else here that you think words typed here are serious, which proves only one thing: You have no life outside these forums. That is your failure. You see, Classy, you will never understand the things I do. You will never see the world the way I do. You will never know the truth. All you will ever know is the foolishness you've managed to convince yourself of. Everyone knows this.

I wasn't thinking it makes me tough. Your original post about the best home defense was completely wrong, and I fixed it for you. I did you a favor, you should be thankful.

That is the dumbest post I have ever read, A bunch of babbling incoherent doo doo. And who is "everyone"? Do you see dead people too? So let me get this straight, you think the op does not want to really buy a gun? You don't think his words are serious? And who in the hell is "everyone"? Are you maybe running a swine flu fever that explains your "everyone" post. Get it, swine flu

None of the AE cartridges are rimmed.

Additionally, both the weight and the recoil spring of the Desert Eagles are ridiculous, precisely to deal with the higher than normal pressures.
And yet, the 50AE and 44AE aren't anywhere near 454 pressure levels.

Anything else?

You are mistaken... The Desert Eagle currently is for sale in .357 magnum, .44 magnum, and .50 "Action Express". As far as I know there never was a .44 action express... both the .44 and .357 are rimmed cartridges. The .50 action express actually has the same rim diameter as a .44 magnum just a larger case diameter. It is possible to feed rimmed cartridges in a semi-auto, it is just more of a hassle for extraction and there is less magazine density. That being said it is much less than ideal but I'm just trying to prove a point here. I'm sure there are other examples of it, I just can't think of any right now. Also the desert eagle uses a gas recoil system, although it can be a finicky gun it really does do a very good job of taming the recoil...

You're right they are nowhere near 454 levels, and it would be stupid to make a 454 cassul automatic for anything other than novelty, we can agree on that, but I hate to call anything impossible.

The fact that you cannot comprehend my post shows me the magnitude of your ignorance. On this forum, you sir, are unmatched. And yet you continue to prove your foolishness with every post, so please, Classy, please continue, it's quite entertaining. Everyone knows this.

Classy don't be an idiot - dogs don't follow you to work, in dark alleys, in parking garages, to the grocery store and so on. Dogs arnt 100% even man-stopper trained costing thousands - head-shots are. Dogs need food, are messy, cause allergies and generally a liability many people may not want. Basically you have no fucking clue.

Exactly, everyone needs at least a gun to protect themselves with.

Imagine going to the grocery store without being armed, that is just incredibly scary.
