I just bought a CM Hyper 212+ for my Q6700. I'll let you know how that goes because with my Scythe Ninja 2, I was up to 71C after 10 minutes of OCCT Linpack at 3.33GHz at 1.3V.

The AC7Pro doesn't handle quads very well.

Yes please do. I'd be interested in before & after results.

Boy you're not kidding. I was really disappointed. Now that I have some discretionary income coming in, I'm ready to buy a really good cooler that can do the job.

OP, do you plan to eventually overclock your cpu?

If not, changing the cooler really has no purpose. The stock cooler is sufficient enough an the ac7p even more so.

Did you happen to come from using a dual core cpu? When i changed from a e5200 to a q6600 both at 3.6 my temps rose about 10c with the same cooler. (same cooler as you)

I like the hyper 212+, got one for my third rig, cools better than my vendetta 2 which is a decent cooler in its own right.

Well, I've mounted and remounted the heatsink four times with varying degrees of thermal paste application and two fans (Arctic Cooling ACF12PWM and the stock fan) and I've concluded that even though my Ninja 2 had a loose pushpin, it somehow still managed to cool better than the CM212+.

At the same 3.33GHz but with 1.2875V (VID), OCCT Linpack gets it past 80C which is by all means...not right. I'll let it stay on for now but disappointing results were disappointing. A bigger heatsink, you will need.

I dunno if FrostyTech is the place to go for easy-to-read reviews. They have some unique testing methodology...

Scythe Mugen 2 is your best bet for its price range. If you're not overclocking, stock's fine really.
