I'm having to replace another relatively cheap chair that I bought several years ago. Padding at lower back is worn out and the fake leather is flaking off. What's your preference for a comfortable chair that can hold up over the years?

Thanks Joey. Looks like a nice one! Anyone else have a desk chair that they really like?

What's your budget? I like the Steelcase Leap Chair and the Herman Miller Embody Chair.... but expect to shell out a big chunk of change. They should last you a LONG time.

I'm in the market for a new chair too. I was going to get a Clutch Crank series chair but I just missed out on the sale and so decided not to get it (it was like $100 or so off from the normal $350 price). But I saw on Amazon there's a ton of very similar gaming chairs to those Clutch chairs, at way less of a price. For me, I'm not sure I'd notice or appreciate any differences in the Clutch chairs to them so I was leaning towards the E-WIN gaming chair as of now. But I just haven't gone through with ordering it yet.

What's important to me is that it reclines nicely and has a headrest, and has non-useless lumbar support. A bonus would be if you could fold the arms out of the way but I've only seen that once before on some chair. Leather vs mesh... meh, I guess it doesn't matter. I might actually prefer mesh because leather seems to wear out quicker (although my current chair is synthetic leather, and it's chipping/peeling).

I'd probably spend up to around $400 if I saw something real nice. Just looked at the Steelcase Gesture chair; that looks decent, but $1,000? LOL. No thanks.

Herman Miller Aeron, office staple product. I can sit in mine for 8hrs at work followed by 8hrs at home, and not even notice.

the plastic front edge on a herman miller aeron seat is annoying

steelcase leap is way more comfortable

literally the only pro of an aeron is the mesh seat lets your farts through

LOL about the Aeron.

Dude... I just don't think those Steelcase chairs are worth that much. Sure, they're trendy/contemporary looking, but that Leap is just like a normal office chair you see everywhere. Even if that wasn't true, and it was a little better, I can't believe it's worth $1,000. I'd like to sit on one vs a regular $200 or so chair that looks exactly like it. I could be totally wrong but I don't think I'd feel much different after sitting in one. Thing better have a fellate feature on it for a thousand dollars.

You get what you pay for when it comes to chairs. When choosing you also want to be able to sit in it at a desk. Places like Grand And Toy will have the good stuff, office grade stuff, meant to sit on for long duration. (referred to as a 24 hour chair). Downside is you can't really try it as those places tend to be order only.

So other best bet is Staples, and go try a bunch. Look for the more expensive ones as anything under $100 is not going to last.

I ended up buying a gaming chair, it's ok, but my only complaint is the arm rests are too far apart. When I'm typing I can't rest my arms on them, but if I'm gaming then I sort of can because my hand is on the mouse. I guess, that's why it's a gaming chair... lol. Probably like that by design.
