The only thing that concerns me about this drive is finding the proper media for it. looking at quatums web site it looks like this drive uses a new kind of tape cartridge that i havent been able to find on sites like price watch or hpermicro. if you have a source of tapes, by all means quatnum makes nice drives. As to software, i can heartily recommend Computer Associates brightstore products. There support has been fantastic. here is my experience. Iwas looking at thier web site. up pops a lil box asking if i wanted to chat with a tech rep about any produxt, i answered yes. A chat window pops up and he asks pertinent questions about my network and what i wanted backed up. after we talked tech a bit he asked if I wanted a sales rep to contact me, i said sure. Within the hour a sales rep called me, asked what I was using at the moment and Volunteered to give me a competative upgrade. She e-mailed me a quote within 2 hours. From here e-mail i discovered they offered a 30 day trial and d/led it on my own. Another rep then e-mailed me that i got free tech support for the duration of my trial period. When was the last time you saw that? Well I accidently let that 30 day drial expire. When i discovered this i called my rep about buying and she explained how to go about that. i told her it was out and what could we do about getting me access while the product was shipped. she contacted tech support for me and had the trial extended 30 days. A tech rep CALLED ME 3 TIMES to make sure i got the extention and that everything was working well and i had everything i needed. Check it out at
CA
and D/l the free trial.
BTW i recommend the disaster recover option as well as the open file option. Dsaster recvery restores a fubared server with 1floppy, 1cd, and 1 full backup tape to the state of the tape date. Open files backs up files that are still open (obviosly).
