Need a program made for Windows.

I need a program made that can record information that is spit out of HLDS.exe [Half Life Dedicated Server]. Because I rent a server and I feel it is underperforming, but I need solid proof.

The program will need to record the information either via HLDS.exe directly, console, or HLSW.exe.

Either someone can tell me what I need to know to do this, or I will [pay if you want..] someone to do this for me.

PM me and
Thanks in advance!

Doesn't it save a console log? I'm not familiar with HLDS directly but every FPS server that I've used either has a variable to tell it to save a console log or can be easily redirected to log it with servername > blah.log.

Look at the docs for HLDS? And what GUI would you need for reading them other than a text editor?

I just want a program that can calculate all the HLDS FPS taken over time into an average.

Also, no logs found containing server side frames per second by me.

Maybe something that can exec command RCON stats and record the information that the console / server spits out?

Type RCON stats in console / HLSW.

IE -
22:03:04 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 633 0 512.40 0

I'd like something that would be able to record CPU% and FPS.

Considering that the server doesn't render images, good luck getting it to tell you how many it renders each second.

Here's a hint: it's always 0.

I actually wouldn't mind being hired to write you some software, but I'll save you some money and tell you it's going to be impossible to record the number of images rendered every sencond by a program that doesn't render images, unless you want to pay me to write a program that displays the number "0".

It's not images.

I'm pretty sure it's the number of times the app refreshes.
It does render FPS, but not in an image. If you've ever rented an HLDS Server, you will know [this is to everyone not one].

I suppose it's possible that HL clients periodically upload their average FPS to the server for statistical purposes, although that seems unnecessary.

Those two sentences don't make sense.

I don't know how to describe it.

It may be that the FPS represents the number of times that the application refreshes, but I'm not sure not to word it.

Yeah the server does have a "FPS". You would know if you've played a lot of HL/mods. It's probably the number of times in a second the server updates the game world (physics etc) since all calculations are done on the server.

FPS doesn't automatically mean something has to be rendered in video. There are lots of frames, like ethernet frames and player update frames.

This should be consistent. It's in the variable sv_fps I believe. It wouldn't be any lower than what sv_fps is set at unless the server seems really laggy.

SV_fps no longer has any effect, I think.

FPS is controlled by sys_ticrate which in relation is controlled by the Windows Timer Resolution.
I just need a simple program with a GUI - Simple grey box with 3 white spaces. One with current FPS, one with average FPS, and one with all the information that RCON stats spits out.

I also think servers have some type of FPS thing, because I've seen stats of servers and they say so and so dedicated server running CS:S at so and so fps.

Current FPS is spat out when you type RCON stats into console.

In this format.
22:03:04 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 633 0 512.40 0

Average FPS isn't spat out, which is what I want this program to do. Basically take x amount of data and produce an average.

It would seem you are speaking of latency and not FPS. Experiencing tons of lag and trying to figure out why? If this is the case you are kind of out of luck. So many variables as to why someone can have high latency to a server on the internet. Good luck proving its thier fault even if it is. Remember you cross tons of other hardware to make it to your HL server and the server host owns very little of it.

Just my 2 cents.

One thing that popped into my head. When I ran an HL server back in the day you could set your min/max rates to values either lower or higher depending on who you wante on your server. If you want LPBs you could set it high so that anyone with a slow connection would be forced to drop. This was the original CS though. Not sure if those settings still exist.

No latency problems, if you play HLDS Based games, you know what I mean.
I just need someone that can point me in the right direction.

Negative comments just don't post.

Bump for at least some information on what I'd use to program this. [Pardon if I said something stupid here..]
