NSF5 is pretty decent, didn't play it too much though.
For rally games, try Colin McRae Rally 2

EDIT: If you're going to throw console games in, Super Mario Kart for the SNES all the way!!!

NFS5 is great, I had so much fun with that game. I was never a big Porsche fan before that game, but that game gave me a much great appreciation of Porsche's. Its one of those borderline games where the physics are real enough to seem real, but not too real to be way too challenging for someone just looking to get in and race.

ok, so i just got porsche unleashe (MFS5) home, and it says windows 2000 is not supported...

umm... will it work anyways? LOL

Midtown madness one or two. Both tons of fun.

They ARE better with a wheel. It's like you're actually driving wrecklessly through town. I almost bought one around christmas (tried my cow-orkers and got hooked), but they were expensive as hell. Wonder if they came down yet...

Championship Rally is a tad better than McRae IMO (tho I'm a huge CM fan)

Check out Superbike 2001 for a really incredible motorcycle game. It almost looks like a TV broadcast with all the eye candy graphics stuff on. You can go through qualifiying for each track, make changes to the bike (tires, suspension, etc) during qualifying..etc.

Really cool game if you're into motorcycles.

but seriously, if you want realistic racing games, Dreamcast is your only solution until GT3 comes out.

If you like Nascar, then Sierra's Nascar Racing 4 is awesome. Great graphics and you can race online also.
I love playing this game.

most of these games you really relaly need a wheel to get the full fun!

Get Pod Racer. Even if you don't like Star Wars it's a blast! If your joystick rotates you can turn sideways to go through tight spots.
