I was given 10 computers and I would like to see whats in them (Hardware/CPU/Ram/ETC) I need a standalone tool that is preferably free (Standalone as It does not need an OS to run EX: It will run from a CD as the computers hard disks were wiped with DBAN) I used to use Aida16 but that was discontinued a while ago so I need a newer tool.
Thanks
Oh and expect another thread on what to do with 10 computers:biggrin:

Maybe there is a site on the internet with sch a tool that you can go to a site and it reads your hardware.

I needed a program that ran from dos or had its own OS (Linux or the like) as the computers hard disks were formatted with dban so
I was browsing the web and I came across HDT (Hardware detection Tool) It runs on Linux from a bootable CD.
I ran the tool on all of them and here is my inventory of specs

8 of the computers are exactly the same
Dell Dimension 2400
PIV 2.2GHZ
1GB DDR Ram
80GB IDE Hard Disk
CD-RW Drive (Will not read DVDS)
Onboard Video (No AGP Slot)
Windows XP Professional COA Stuck to case

The other two are not prebuilt and are custom computers
PC 9
Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L
Q9550
2 x 2 GB DDR2
ATI 5450
80GB SATA Hard Disk
SATA DVD-RW
Cheap Beige Case with a "450" Watt PSU
Windows Vista Home Premium COA on Case

PC10
Asus A8N-E
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1GB of DDR Ram
Nvidia 6600GT (PCI Express)
250GB SATA Hard Disk
NEC ND-3550 DVD-RW Drive
It looks to be in the same kind of case as PC9 with the same "450" Watt PSU
NO OS COA

I am keeping PC9 & 10 but I will probably donate the dells to a charity (If they will accept them)

Great gaming computer with a graphics card upgrade!

EDIT: prolly wanna replace that "450W" PSU and give it a fresh HDD.

Swap the graphics from the other into this one for an epic HL2/CSS/ [place early 00's title here] rig. Woot!

How would the BIOS give him the information he's asking about?

My BIOS gives a hardware profile

It tells me my RAM config(installed ram and free slots), processor, motherboard model, HDDs, and I think GPU. That would have been the info he needed.

Ya, the BIOS is the way to go here. Speccy, Everest, and the Device Manager works great within Windows and OS X has its own system information tool as well.

So the BIOS will tell you specific information like what NIC, audio controller etc. you're running?

That's pretty sweet, if you got those PCs for free. Get a hold of a Dell OEM XP SP2 restore CD, and refurb the dells back to working condition, and then keep the other two. I'm sure that you would be able to find some place to take those Dells, since they have an XP COA on them (making them legal).

If this had been a week ago, I would have said to trade one or two in to Staples, get $100 off of another new PC or laptop. But I think that trade-in program ended on Dec 25th.

Yeah I was given the PCS on the only condition that I use them myself or fix them up and donate them to charity
I have a Dell XP CD already but can I use my SP3 CD to make it easier to obtain updates? or is the key on the computer only good for SP2?
